Hi folks, forgot to snap pics while I was in my home town of Ipswich on a quick road trip in the Colony Park. My mom and brother hadn't seen the car before this and fell in love, even taking note of the coach lamps, leather seats and chrome tips, as well as how smooth a ride it offers. The wagon did great. Averaged a bit over 20 mpg. The new 225/75 R15's hold the road nicely. Didn't set any land speed records with the 160 horse 302, but that's fine with me. Got lots of admiring looks and a huge thumbs up from a passenger in a late model Subaru sedan as I was coming off the GW Bridge to get on the Henry Hudson on the way up. I remembered about pics on the way back, so I took this one at a rest area on the Mass Pike. I heard a young boy getting into an Explorer parked near me talking to his father enthusiastically about the car. It's good to see something familiar through someone else's eyes - always gives me a new appreciation.
Its the best when you here a young kid saying how cool your wagon is !!! its the small things that make it worth while
I agree Rev! I just hope us wagon nuts can preserve enough of them for kids like that to one day grow up and get his or her own wagon.
I actually sold 2 of them last weekend...i havent spoken of it yet... ...cuz Teddy will never talk to me again
Gorgeous car. Don't recall seeing those wheel covers before. They give the car a unique look compared to all the others (like mine) with the turbine wheels.
Well, I didn't read this thread before, because who wants to read a story about someone going to church? btw....it looks good!!
Thanks MercWoody. They are a recent change. I bought steel wheels, bigger-diameter tires and Lincoln Town Car wheel covers from the mid '70's. With the black body paint, the turbines and blackballs kind of disappeared, so I wanted something to dress up the wheels a bit, and even though not model-correct, I really like the look.
