I bet (could be wrong) I'm the first person to spot this clamshell in Smokey and The Bandit. This is the scene where Bandit pulls out of Snowman's driveway for the first time. If you freeze it, look across the street. Now look in the carport of the house. Oldsmobile.

Here's two more clamshells I spotted in the movie, one behind the other:

They were just used cars back then. The rust and corrosion devils had not gotten to the tailgate quite yet.

Couple of my friends parents had them (Chev and Olds) and one day I was at the quick mart for some such reason about 1980... And I watched a guy back up his wagon, open the cool cargo door only to load 8 - 10 cases of beer.

Used to be that a Stationwagon on the street was no big deal.
    Now... very rare.

I wouldn't be surprised if all those wagons were just sitting there already - not necessarily 'set-up' by the film crew. Heck, if we knew the road, we could spot it on Google Earth and see if those clamshells are still around - 30 years later.

Hey guys! The first movie was Coors premium the second was the silver bullet. Also, since it's been a while since I've chimed in... A few weeks back, I was out cruising in my '69 Pontiac convertible. I turn east bound on the highway and suddenly I'm meeting a friendly bunch of guys heading west in a constant stream of Trans Ams. incredible, what's going on? Every one of them honked and waved or gave thumbs up to ol' Ruby. About mid stream, some guys slowed up to let me turn left across the highway then, right after a beautiful '75 (loaded down with cameras on the roof, front end and rear)
I was allowed to join the parade. I road with them for about 3 miles then bowed out. I could have gone all day, it was that cool. Well, what I'd joined in with, unbeknownst to me, was the "Annual Bandit Run" on their way to Colorado. What a blast!

I agree that the wagons were most definitely already sitting there. Unfortunately, they aren't anymore, haha... here's the locations today.

This link is a google map location of the house shown in the first picture I posted. If you go to the street view and look around, the house today has a red roof and no carport. If you zoom in a bit first it will be the red roof above where the little flag is.

This picture shows a shot of where the two wagons were sitting on the street and what it looks like today.
