Very cool. don't see those 'oversized squarebacks' around much. FYI, these 'for the general interest of the forum members' posts about wagons for sale (that aren't your own vehicles) should go in this section: http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=-1&f=16 Marshall
Back in the day, I heard more than one owner refer to those cars as the VW Four O Lemon. Apparently they weren't quite as reliable as the Beetles, Transporters and Squarebacks.
It depends. You had to keep an eye on the oil level and maintain the fuel injection regularly like changing the fuel filter. Owners who weren't careless had good luck with these cars. The sheetmetal around the heat exchangers would eventually rust out. You could expect to renew them a few times, within the lifespan of any air-cooled VW. But, it was a solid car and had the powerfull bus engine. If it drives well, get it and replace the slushbox with a manual trannie. For a rust-free car, the price is right
just removed some parts off of a 1973 VW Square back wagon at my friends junk yard prior to crushing it...too bad scrap metal is up so much, good pieces being turned into soup cans all for the almighty dollar!
