Hi, My dash on my 1984 Ford LTD Country Squire has some cracks by the dash speaker cut outs. Not too bad but not great. Is there a Ford wagon dash cover that looks nice, good quality, fits right, that anyone has tried and likes? Thanks
I got a 'DashMat' brand cover - just their plain-Jane version. There's all kinds of different fabrics and colors. This one was the closest to what I wanted. Also - You can order from Dash-Mat themselves on their website, but I actually got a better deal going through another vendor. Check around on prices. Some are extra for shipping, some include it. Delivered, mine was around $42, IIRC. Marshall
That looks nice KK, I must get a couple for my wagons just to keep the heat off. I'm wondering if stevegr meant a actual cover? I got a fiber glass cover for my kids Mustang years back because the speaker holes were toast. It fit snug over the original dash pad and other than being black over the red dash you couldn't tell unless you pressed your finger on it......I think?? that's what he is after..?? If it is, I don't know where to find one for this car, even if it's made to begin with. Iether way, the pad you have looks good......must get now that I know where to look, indirectly thanks KK
Those dash pads always let go at the speaker grills. I've never found a way, yet, to keep them good. Look at them funny and they break. If you find out a way to fix it, let me know, as I may still be getting that 1980 Colony Park. If I find a way around it, I'll post here, too.
Hi Steve, I have a 1984 Ford Country Squire wagon as well and it looks like we are on the same path to make them Wagon Queens! My dash is cracked as well , but I have found a really nice abs plastic dash cap for it. It is made by Coverlay. Their website is coverlaymfg.com and they have the cap you need. The one I got is black but I intend to paint it to match the tan interior, they offer different color ones but mine came from a Ford dealer that was clearing out inventory. It fits great, you can trim out the dash at the speaker area as this has all the holes already in it. They are available with holes for light control sensors or without. There is also a video on their website showing how to install it, it comes with a tube of rtv adhesive, the caps retail around 100.25 plus shipping and come with instructions that are easy to follow. I have been collecting parts for the conversion of my wagon and when I start into it I will make a build thread. Good luck with your wagon!
Hi Steve, It looks like we are on the same path to make our wagons into Trucksters! The dash on my car is cracked in the same place at the radio speaker hole, but there is a good solution for it. I bought a dash cover for mine on Ebay from a Ford dealer that was clearing out inventory. It is an abs plastic cover that glues in over the top of the existing dash and has all the holes for vents and radio already in it. It is made by Coverlay Manufacturing Inc. they have a website as well and you can order them for 100.25 plus shipping they are available in colors, mine is black but I will paint it tan when I install it. They also feature a Youtube video on how to install the cover. The model numbers that they list for our cars is 12.304 without light control and 12.305 with light control, they also come with rtv adhesive and a set if directions to install them. The website is at coverlaymfg dot com I tried to post an answer to this last week but I never saw it post. Hopefully this will post. Good luck with your Truckster project, when I start modifying mine I will make a thread for it
New Dash Thanks for the dash covers and other options. I am getting close to getting done with my 1984 LTD wagon. Looks like I might do carpet and mats at some point and shocks too. Let me know how your truckster comes along and post photos please. Steve
Steve: When you do the shocks, save yourself a LOT of hassle and money. Go to the local Ford dealer and have them order you a set of the Ford gas shocks. They are made by Monroe, have a life time warranty, and are properly calibrated for the car. They are also about $37 each, in Canadian dollars. You should have them in hand the next day. They are softer in compression than the after market ones, even the Monroe shocks. They ride better and handle much better.

UPDATE!! Rock Auto has just added the Coverlay line of dash covers and door panels to their site. They have all the colors and options and the cover for a 1984 Country Squire is 77.79 plus shipping, that is a great deal! Search your year make and model then click on Body-Interior and you will find it under Dash Board Cover at the top of the page.
