Very good info about the crank pilot holes and the Z bar. Is there any other way to tell if your engine can be both auto and manual without removing the trans?
You could unbolt the torque converter, and with a very long and small headed inspection mirror, using a very bright flashlight, you MIGHT be able to see if the crank register is drilled. The Z-Bar hole you can see from outside the car with no issue. Again, the z bar thing is not a deal breaker as you can go hydraulic. But as said, the hydraulic clutch needs a lot of fabrication. Yu need pedals, then the master cylinder for the throw out bearing. Then need to bend the lines to the TO bearing, get the correct TO bearing installed and then make sure that it has enough pedal throw and the MC is big enough for the clutch you choose. I am swapping my 67 Tempest wagon over right now. If you have never done it, it will be a challenge. NOT impossible. But a challenge. I would say that for a novice it is a 8.5 to a 10. For an experienced guy or full time mechanic a 4. Mainly because it is time consuming and if you do not have a lift, there is a lot of under the car and in the car back and forth...
