SO..it was last minute decision...but I decided to go to the Hotrod and Restoration trade show in INDY..

Now this may not seem too important to most..but the deal is...Ive NEVER been on a airplane before !!...and Im 5mumblemumble years old !

Not a fear of flying...just a plain and simple fact of ..Never wanted to !
Its always been a "If im not drivin...im not goin"....hehe

But the company decided to buck up and send me so I thought ...'whathaheck':D
well..let me tell ya...the 'flying' part was ok after all...but the 'waiting and crap' bewteen ...that was enough to make me never fly again:evilsmile:

We had a 4 hour layover in Chicago between flights !! Which means i was in an airport for 12 hours in total just to get home...and NO SMOKING !!...anywhere !!!...then the drive home in co-workers 'new ' truck...also 'NO SMOKIN'.. so after all that....I went without a smoke for 16 hours...and didnt kill anyone...I just may quit:rofl2:

I wish I had had some more notice...I woulda sourced out who was local from the board for a 'meet n greet' :)

so otherwise..the Trade show?...it was ok...and 3 of the 'feature cars' were wagons:thumbs2:
the pics arent great as all i had was my phone

but the coolest part was that I set up a new account with a company called 'Distinctive Industries'...they do interior repro's...and mostly for Ford/Merc :thumbs2:...(some GM as well)

SO...as Im yakkin with the sales guy...I mention I have a few Ford wagons
...and he says "ME TOO" "Ive got 5 Falcon wagons!"

Well...needless to say...CLIFF and I became fast pals:D...I told him of the board and hoped that he would check it out !

so anyhoo....some bad pics from the weekend
    1st...proof that i was actually inside a plane:rofl2:

    then some of the cars

    ...and that was my weekend:D

    Really??? First time flying?

You missed out. Back when I was a kid you used to be able to go up front to check out the cockpit and say hi to the pilot.

    Nice looking wagons.

Sounds like you had fun, Rev. You just reinforced why I, too, prefer to drive everywhere. I have been on a plane, 5 times before. Only one destination was where I was unable to drive, anyway, and that was Jamaica. Of course, when I go places, the dogs come too, and they do complicate flying anywhere. That looks like a great weekend, too. Wonder if that place that does the Ford interiors will ever come up with front door armrests for the the LTD and Marquis wagons from the late 70s. There is something wrong with the design from the factory. I almost never see them good, no matter the mileage. I even need them for Bertha and she only has 40,000 kms on her! Wonder when, or if, you will decide to fly again!

Very cool! Good for you for getting on the plane, and the pics from the show look great.

Looks like a lot of fun, despite the fact that you couldn't light up!

    Glad ya had fun, Rev:thumbs2:

I flew to Toronto a couple years back, derect so no waiting. How ever it was funny tell the stewerdess (sp??) that the last time I flew booze was free and you could smoke, along with free stuff......food. Needed a bank loan just for a bag of peanuts to then find out my $1500 cash was no good, only credit cards excepted........ I don't have a credit card:slap:

    :rofl2:

Glad it turned out nice Rev. But why did you go that far in a real aeroplane to look at cars and things and NOT take a real camera?:slap:

Glad you enjoyed it Rev and found a new friend. If I had known you were going to be hanging around Chicago for 4 hours I would have been there to meet you. Yup....flying is fast except that it isn't. The screwing around on the ground just isn't worth it to me. If I can't drive I'm likely not going.
And....you have to travel more to find the clever ways us smoker's use to beat the system.:yup:

Please forgive me for laughing at your sixteen hours of torture. Once Chicago's politicians devise a way to tax per puff you'll be golden(y). Plenty of bars in the airport you know.

Guess you won't be visiting your new friend Cliff anytime soon...unless your driving of course. :)

Hope the trip was worth 16 hours of fresh air in your lungs...

I love flying, especially takeoff when you can actually feel the acceleration. Unfortunately, the TSA has made it a real annoying adventure to make it through the terminal.
I quit smoking over a year ago. The last time I flew was my first time flying first class, and my first flight not squirming wishing I could light up. It was a great experience.

I know Foxy...and my life wont be complete till you and I sip a drink together...seriously:cheers:

you cant be fearful of something you've never tried...at least I cant:yup:

it was actually pretty cool....I just dont "stand and wait" very well...and as for the 'clean air'....Ive actually decided to try and quit:yup:...I relaized that the main reason that I smoke is STRESS...and there I was with NO STRESS...amazing but true:rofl2:

    I might fly again...but I doubt it...although I will drive anywhere:cheers:
