My name is Charlie, I am 28 years old, I live in east Va, I grew up in Michigan. My family had a car club ( The Loose Lug Nuts of Whitmore Lake Mi) My uncle had a body shop where at a young age I learned how to do just about everything. I love cars! My dad had a 60 Pontiac Catalina safari Wagon, I would love to find one and restore it. I currently work as a Service Manager at Deltaville Auto, I own and drive a 81 LTD wagon. I have almost $3k invested in it and counting. Everyone under the age of 30 says I'm crazy for it, but all the older fellas love it. I never would have thought a 81 wagon would get so much attention. I also own a 66 4 dr dodge dart. I previously owned a 63 falcon futura and a 77 2dr landau impala. I am thinking about putting a Lincoln front clip on my LTD and look forward to opinions, ideas and knowledge. Thanks
Welcome to the forum Chuck!!! These younger folks don't seem to get the wagon addiction, but you're in the right place for support.
Welcome aboard, Chuck! Take a look at this one: http://www.cars-on-line.com/60197.html It's been listed for quite a while. Sure looks like a sweet car! And this Bonneville looks interesting, too! baltimore.craigslist.org/cto/3599362719.html
Dar yeah go Charlie. All yeah gotta do is ask and helping you spend your $ goes to the top of the list! BTW and
Thanks for the pics, The white one looks just like my dads. He paid $900 for his in 91 and was lucky enough to get his hands on all the side chrome, and a nice grille for a fair price, He traded it for a 53 olds four door. He got picked on a lot for having a wagon and rarely got any show awards. He sure wishes he had it now. I'll get one maybe and let him drive it.
Welcome to the nuthouse, Chuck. Great to see a younger person around here with the wagon bug. You'll fit right on in, I'm sure. About that Lincoln front clip: A couple of members have floated that idea before, and it is more than difficult. The hard points are the same, so that part is easy. The problem comes with the character lines. The fender peak does not line up at all well. The character lines are very different, too. Add in the difference in wheel base, and there is just no easy way to turn a Ford into a Lincoln. If you want a Lincoln wagon, the only way is to graft the rear of the Colony Park roof onto the Lincoln sedan, and then modify the back panel to accept the tail gate. It can be done, but it is a LOT of work.
Thanks! I was thinking I could graft partial cutouts or whole fenders from the front of a early 80's model lincoln, and use the lincoln header panel and hood and be done.
