1953 HEMI town & country chrysler station wagon. Very rare survivor

    http://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/3619262698.html

Rare 331 hemi wagon. Some rust but not bad. A little floor rust and a little in the outer low door skins. Very little filler although it looks bad from someone sanding it. Very straight. Needs FULL resto. Never had it running myself. Complete. Clear [...]

Let's hope they also tied down the rear or it could be a real diamond and very rough by now. Nice project for one of those Mopar freaks.

Looks like a good solid start to a wonderful wagon! Bet it was something to see when it was new, and it would be great to see it in that same shape again!

What a sleeper. Who'd ever think a Hemi is in there?

I'd keep that wagon bone stock on the outside with a nice shiny factory color and wide white radial tires. Then maybe a late Hemi and tranny.

The early hemi is a true hemi and at 331 cubes big enough to be bad. If the cylinders are rough, the next oversized bore would punch a couple cubes into the displacement and with modern engine management you could get way more than 1 hp per cubic inch, without needing to strengthen the bottom end.
When the original V-8's get ripped out, much of the charachter gets ripped out with it. Well, not so much when a modern hemi replaces an old one. Dropping smallblock Chevies into other makes is quite disappointing:

This guy went all the way to shave .60 overbore to get 10 cubes more:

If you don't chop the body, one of these should fit:
