It looks like something the Soviets would of made, it wouldn't have looked one bit out of place driving around Moscow in '68. It even looks sort of like the stereotypical homely looking and heavy-set Russian women wearing a babushka.:rofl2:

Reminds me of a 55-56 Chevy, and a BBC will fit right in there!
    LS motor will fit too!

The LS swap would make the most sense for a daily driver. Power and economic operation, along with tow capabilities.

Must quit posting about this, or else I'm heading South for this beast!

Don't know for sure, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they did maybe starting in the '68 model-year. We need to find a Checker expert.....

    Well, they're out there.....

Broused through the first 8 pages of the 'general' forum, didn't find any 'brake' discussions.

I'd have to go odd. Jeep 4.0L EFI straight six and overdrive automatic and computer and wiring harness from whatever 93-98 Grand Cherokee it comes out of. Dash would be slightly modified to accept a trimmed up Grand Cherokee instrument cluster. It has round gauges, wouldn't look out of place at all if I chop the top and side lips you see here and put chrome rings on each gauge.

I guess the biggest problem if this is a '68 is that the heater controls and light controls are kinda in the way...but I could always relocate them and a radio into a pod or something.

Funny you mention 55-56 Chevy's, My Lovely Wife inadvertantly figured out how to irritate any Shoe Box Chevy owner a couple of years ago, she was admiring a Modified 56 4-door Chevy with all the bages shaved off it. And her comment to the owner was "Thats the best looking Checker I have ever seen! You did a great job on it." I think the owner almost punched her, but than said Thank You, and I moved her along quickly.

I had forgot about that one!!!!!

If it were mine I would have to Put in a 250 OHC-6 Pontiac 4bbl and a 200R4 just to be even more different. It would bolt in place of a Chevy 230 or 250 with no issues. Or maybe a 292 Chevy?

That's been a long standing comment of those three years for a long time. The similarity can be astonishing to the untrained eye. I remembered the reference to the 57 Chevy looking like a "Checker with fins"..... Unfortunately those 3 years have always gotten beat by the slogans probably due to the styling differences of the other makes of those years.
    However they did sell many.........

I'd love to have this, but I have my eye on an Aerobus...
