AK. I think 92 was the last year for the Custom Cruiser. The Roadmaster and Caprice carried on alone.
I did not know that 92 was the last year for the custom cruiser. For some reason I had 93 in my head. Being a big GM guy you would think that I should know this stuff.
Yep the round Cruisers were only made in 91-92. I love my 92 OCC, it's the last V8-rear-drive car Olds ever made....sadly. '92 was the only year the 350 was optional in the OCC, in '91 the only choice was the Chevy 305. One other interesting thing, in '91 the large rear 1/4 windows used the curved C-piller trim from the Roadmasters behind the rear doors, and in '92 they lost that trim and went to the Caprice style, which makes that rear 1/4 window look even longer. Guess taking that piece of plastic off saved a few bucks per car...ha! -Mike
The '92 Custom Cruiser was also the last full-size body-on-frame car Oldsmobile ever produced. Along with the rear window trim piece The 91's also had the "Flyaway" trim on the rear door that flies off on the freeway. I grab that trim off any wagons I see with it when I'm picking at the boneyards. I get 25-30 bucks a set for the door pieces, seen them sell for over a hundred. I'm just looking to cover my costs and not stab the fellow bubble wagon owners in the heart.
The Roadmaster was the last making it all the way through the 1996 model year. The Caprice started the year and they built around 485-~630 depending on who you believe. I would think mainly of left over 1995 parts. They weren't selling well now that Detroit was shoving SUVs down our throat and it being the last year of b-body production they were busy turning out police cars, taxis, and Impala SS on the same line. I guess they figured if someone wanted the wagon they could ante up an extra few grand for the Buick which I think stickered out around $32K! Production numbers I compiled awhile back: http://gmlongroof.4umer.com/t836-wagon-production-number-table-completed#81154
