Same story here in the US - father angry at "Bush's War" or some such BS, is selling a Viper, or a Porsche Carrera, or a Escalade, for five or six grand. Some people deserve a bullet in their heads for shiite like this! Harsh? Not at all.

Makes me wonder how many people fall for it,thinking they are getting a car or truck for near nothing?

Well, there is a very famous story here (old). It is about a guy that looks through the ads in the newspaper and sees a Porsche 911 for sale, almost new, for 100 euro's. He thinks, this is not right, probably a scale model orso (think that is for the before PC time, so much less scams).
Anyway, he calls the number and get's a woman on the phone. He askes about the Porsche and she confirms it is still for sale. He says: but it is probably a model, or? No, no, she answers, it is a real car in good condition, almost new. So he decides to make an appointment and have a look.
When he arrives at the womans house, there is in the garage a very nice, almost new, Porsche 911! So he asks about the asking price, maybe she made a typo, but no, 100 euro is the price. He pays her the 100 euro and takes the car home.
It turns out later that the husband of the woman went away with his secretary to Switzerland and phoned her to ask if she could sell the Porsche and send him the money!!!

I guess that people still hope for such luck, maybe even more nowadays with all the insecurity...

That story exists in the US, too, with a Corvette, Viper, or some high-dollar muscle car as the "bargain".

The same scammers are in all types of adds, my buddy was selling his mothers older car just to get rid of it and one day he gets a call from someone saying he stole the add from someone, and when he went through kijiji he saw his picture in someones add and contacted kijiji. I guess these people just like to play games. By the way a guy from PQ bought the car as is and drove it home then he calls my buddy saying it will cost too much to put it on the road and wants his money back. Did not happen, Henry.
