I just recently acquired an 81 Buick Electra wagon with a 307 that's really clean. It's been sitting in a garage for years and I look forward to messing around with it. I'm always looking to improve all my equipment whether it's trying to get a little more power out of a leaf blower or a Pisten Bully or overclocking my phone. I know very little about this particular type of vehicle and look forward to the adventure that lies ahead with this thing. The closest things to this that I've had were an 84 Cutlass supreme that had a 3.8 and an 85 Impala that had a 305, both were just disposable transportation that I wish I could have held on to.
Welcome aboard! Post some pics when you get a chance. I lived in St. Louis for several years and my oldest daughter lives there now. My son-in-law is the co-owner and brewmaster for Six Row Brewery - check it out!
I hope to get some pics up for you guys tomorrow. I've been really busy with work getting ready for the ski season. It may sound funny, but I actually haven't seen the car yet. It was one of those deals that was too good to pass on, so I had my dad grab it for me. The car is about a hundred miles away at the moment. I plan on changing the gas a bringing it home tomorrow.
If Cadillac mass-produced a wagon in 1981, it would be something like the Electra...well done! I have the 307 in my Brougham. I'm given to understand that with proper maintenance, they are reliable engines...just don't pin your hopes on winning many races with it. Mine is sufficient enough to move 2-tons of vehicle...and in day-to-day traffic, it does just fine...but I don't do too much passing on 2-lane highways. You and your Electra shall be well-received here. You might also check out the Cadillac forums for additional info on the 307... http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/rwd-19xx-1984-deville-fleetwood-1985/
pictures Here she is in all her glory. Turns out it is an 89. I took her on a test ride down to my hunting property. I learned the alternator is bad and had to stop and charge the battery with my truck. Lucky it was only a 40 mile round trip and only had to stop once. I had a hard time around Taum Sauk, but she rides very well. Like others have said, it's not a race car, but I wasn't expecting it to be.
