I,ve owned 3 wagons since 1981, 1977 Caprice, 1966 impala, now 1965 ambassador. Same story husband dies car sits, last reg. in 97, odometer reads 46,000. Original paint, 327,auto,ac,ps,pb,pw,pdl,tilt wheel, reclining bucket seats, console and column shift?. Put a battery in it today all lights, horn, heater work no power windows or wipers yet. Car has been dry storage and has no signs of rust absolutely none, paint overall looks great a few dings. Interior is spotless but both front seats split up the middle on the base only. Going to try and soften up the vinyl we'll see what happens. I'm sure the gas tank is junk and will have to deal with that, will try jerry jug for now. Brakes will have to be looked at. Not sure what I'm going to do with it, for now I'll put it in the garage until spring. Amazing how cars used to be built, what happened America!!!! Big Fat Tony
Few more pics. Lots of nice rides here, great site. Forgot, it's a one owner, has the original 65 license plates, hope she finds them. I don't know a whole lot about AMC but it's not going to hurt to learn. Can anyone tell me if these were dependable cars in the day? Looks well built. BFT
Welcome to the forums. That looks like a very nice wagon. I like the color and have always liked the body style on these. Thanks for posting the pictures. Look forward to updates as you move forward.
2 other toys, 65 A100 with 69 340, 55 was painted in 76 and put into garage until last year, other than that all orig.
That 65 Ambassador is a BEAUTY! Well worth whatever effort it takes to keep her in one lovely piece. They were great cars in their day, too. That 327 is an absolute honey!
Tony. The A-100 makes me feel all warm 'n fuzzy too Word of caution on the fuel cell for the AMC tho'. Neat Long Roof BTW, I really like stacked headlitez DON'T SCRAP THAT TANK AND THEN START LOOKING FOR A REPLACEMENT. Gently remove it and find a radiator shop that can AND WILL boil it out and make any and all repairs. Any Fuel cells for wagons are none existant because the majority were located in the quarter panels and are vertical as opposed to horizontal for the rest of any company's production.Chearz, Jer
Some pics of the interior, charged the battery power windows now work. Looks like the wipers are vaccum? Gas doesn't smell that bad, I bet the guy ran super, non eth back in 97. Tony
That interior looks great. Must have been top of the line with power windows. Kind of reminds me of a rambler rebel wagon a friend had back in the sixties. His goofy son cut the back of the roof off and turned it into a "rebchero" . As I remember it though, the rambler wagon was a pretty reliable car.
