I am looking at a 1963 Studebaker Station Wagon.
The owner told me that it has bubble on the paint.
Now the question is, under the bubbles is there rust or is it really bad amature paint job?
If it is rust, then would it be a serious thing or easy to work with?
    Thanks,
    Brandyn

Usually bubbles mean rust just under the surface, but most body surface rust can be fixed easily and body sections painted to match. If the problem is big enough on the car a complete repaint may be neccessary.

I will find out how bad it is this weekend when I go check it out. I probably will get pictures of it. Other then the bubbles it just has a rust hole on the inside of the trunk lid. Which might be the only thing that would cost a bit to fix depending on the size and how bad it really is

Love those old Stoodies, hope it turns out to be a nice one. I recently found a bubble on my tailgate in the lower left corner, turned out to be rust, looks like it may have been over looked in prep or water just got in. It was painted in 04' and this is the first thing I've seen so I really can't complain the car was a complete repaint inside and out.

Oh that is really cool! Love the trim lines on those wagons, by the picture looks like a pretty solid old girl. Good luck with your purchase, looks like a dandy!

Probably going to drive it for a while before I start on restoring it.

Oh for sure! I drove mine to death before she became a garage queen, now I baby her a little too much I think...still cruise her but only on sunny warm days and just around town. I kinda miss daily driving the beast.

Looks nice. Hope it works out okay. I called those Studebaker Larks. Are they the same? I remember twins having identical white Lark coupes that were hot running cars.
My wagon has a few bubbles on the driver side rain gutter and on the tail gate. I painted it in late 1989 I think.

I believe it is the lark.
The best thing is that it's got the sliding roof in the back.
Got to make sure to keep it out of the rain so it doesn't leak inside like I have read up on these studes

WOW ! I've only seen a very few of those with the sliding top.
Way back in late 1954 GM had a 1955 model station wagon designed with a sliding top. It was to be called the Corvette Nomad station wagon. Time, money, and leakage prevented that model from coming out. Only the rippled imitation look of the sliding top remained.

We were lucky for awhile. We bought an old panel truck and I got the chance to get any other old car off the lot we wanted. Our son, around nine at the time, chose a 1950 Studebaker Commander 4-dr. Even that is long. Less than 20 miles away was a Stude collector with a shop and junk yard full of cars and parts. Including one of those sliding top wagons.
Since our Studie was/is on hold we never went back. Found out the place was cleared and sold. Sometimes luck doesn't last.
But I believe there are still a lot of Studebaker collectors and parts dealers.

Yea I could even look into the studebaker club and ask around from there.
I just hope it wont need to much since from the pictures it looks solid but that one area on the trunk lid but you never know tell you get into it

Those Lark Wagonaires are terrific cars. Mechanically, they are bog-simple. By 63, I believe they were using a stock Chevrolet small block V-8 engine, so parts for that are so easy it is crazy. From what I understand, the rust issue is a very small one on these cars. The allow they used seems to be quite rust resistant, so it does tend to be fairly isolated. Finding another one in that shape could well be a challenge. Sounds like a terrific car to keep and look after. Good luck and here's hoping it works out.
