Just found this site.I've been into Valiants for close to 40 years .Had all sorts of them but the best one is my Valiant Wagon. It came to me for free.It should have been crushed,It was rusted and dented up real bad,The fram was all rusted too but I saw something in it and decided to fix it up and use it.That was 15 years and about 100,000 miles ago. Here she is in her current state complete with a Rust-O-Lium brush & roller paint job in service and serving me well. Always looking for other people into these cars and I'm also looking for a good tailgate.
Welcome to the forum. Good on you for saving one more from the crusher! I believe that we all have this soft spot for wagons, although the people around us don't know why that is. Speaking for myself though
Thanks for the welcome guys. I'm just beginning to get a 170 together to drop in my wagon .I painted it today and last November in anticipation of this I set the car up with the correct 4 speed out of a 6 cyl 1965 Barracuda I parted out. Never had a 170 4 speed before,it should be interesting.
Welcome to the forum, VWG, Very nice what you're doing to that '65, and that it started with a $0.00 investment. I was looking at a '62 Valiant wagon myself a few months ago. Sadly, the seller and I couldn't come to terms, and the light green beauty is apparently headed to Australia. My loss.....but i still have my money. Let us know what your plans are for that beautiful 170 as far as intake and exhaust, and are you a member over at http://www.forabodiesonly.com/? Feel free to jump on in with our discussions. We could use another A-body guy! Marshall
I was thinking the very same thing... Cool wagon, excellent save! Alot of us(me) have rose colored glasses when it comes to our four wheeled babies. But look at what you've got there...cool
