Nice car. The engine compartment is nicely detailed. It's funny, though, that the photographer didn't notice how dusty the top edge of the grill was, and wipe it down before taking photos. Maybe it wasn't so obvious in natural light, and the dust was more easily seen with the camera's flash.

Nicest wagon I've seen on E-bay in a while. 81X11 didn't tell us he owned a Matador did he? Probably not his though. He would agonize over that loose RT front seatback panel.

I like this car a lot. Except for a few imperceptible dents and a slight wave in the dash it looks showroom. I love the original seats...it shows that the car is original and makes it a real time capsule. I would love to have it but, my bet is that the reserve is going to be way up there.

Nice example. I see quite a few in this color, must have been popular in its day.

I think you're right. I knew this Matador looked vaguely familiar but could not remember where and when we had seen it before.

IF not the same car,, it's odd both have the over/under spray on bottom of engine stops at 1" before the oil filter and appears on my computer to be the wrong color blue.. It would help to be the 360 ci.. doubtfull it will sell for twice the new car price. ( AMC's dont command that loyality unless a AMX,/limted prod units. etc):tiphat:

Yup...the engine size would maybe prevent my further interest, CP. The over spray doesn't bother me. I think it may just be that someone painted the pan because it was grungy (rusty?) and got carried away. It's still a nice car, to me, but, I'm betting it will be over priced.

This one now has a 'buy it now' price of $14,900 on eBay. For some reason, I just don't see that happening.

What would that be - three times its price in 1977?! Matadors were not popular when new and I would not expect they would be any more popular today. This is a nice example that is worth probably $5k to $6k tops. That beautiful firethorn 1977 Buick Estate Wagon on the west coast went for $6100 or so a month or two ago. That one was loaded and, to me at least, a far more desirable car.

Yeah, jwd....some guys will doctor up a nice car that doesn't need it and sit with it for years trying to show everyone what a great car dealer they are by getting 3 times what it's worth. Getting that big money RARELY happens. If ever. This is a decent car but not worth a third of that price IMHO. And he will never get it. Although, I have known many like this guy in the car biz and they will tell you they sold it for asking price. The buyer says otherwise.:D

    $14,900........
I guarantee you that if someone walked in his door today and offered him $9,500, he'd take it.
