OK am I crazy or not. Im looking at what seems to be a beautiful 95 Caprice wagon EXCEPT it is NOT a woody. Am I nuts to think about turning it into one? Can it be done the right way without costing more then I want to spend? Decal, trim....

The chrome trim might be an issue. Check out a fairly new member's Malibu. Fine job converting it from a non-woody to one awesome looking piece of elegance. Just use the SEARCH for Malibu.

I would hold out until you find the right one WITH the overlays. If you wanted to use factory parts, the cost would be pretty steep adding it on yourself. I'd also suggest looking at the Buick Roadmasters. You get the upgraded interior with the vista roof, and maybe a bit more sound deadening. Most of the Roadmasters I've seen seem to have had better care, too. You'll probably have to pay a bit more, but it should be worth it.

No, your not crazy or nuts at all!

A Caprice can be converted to a woody very easily with the right tools, the right materials, patiance etc. You install it just like you would window tinting.

The woodgrain material can be purchased here http://www.stripeman.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=WGD

I've thought about changing mine over to this, to match the interior.

I can only see one reason not to go with a Roadmaster that being if you want to make a sleek wagon. The raised roof and roof rack would make that mission a lot harder.. However your wish for woodgrain tells me that is not what you are aiming for.

Hence I would also recommend the Roadmaster. They have nicer interiors, more std options, more sound dampening, etc and they more or less all come with woodgrain.. In all they are a lot more upscale than the Caprice which is more of a work horse so to say..

    Cheers Dyna

PS: Have a nice Roadmaster so maybe I'm biased..

GOOD points all! I'm DEFINITELY WITH all the "Sleepless/Insomnia Induced" prospect of another Car...it can strike at anytime! "Absolutely NORMAL" or "AB normal" as my NON-car friends like to say! :biglaugh:All the more reason these forums make such a great "Support Group" (y):party::evilsmile: This thread is one of MANY perfect examples of that -TONS of good advice to include Dyna's suggestion at "Go for the Buick" :D I take a shine to Buicks but often forget they're NOT the SAME as a Chevrolet of that Mid-90's vintage, I guess they WOOD come w/ more "stuff" and sound deadening, not to mention that neat "WOOD" Trim...:2_thumbs_up_-_anima But if it's a really nice Chevy maybe go for it...I've been looking at an '84 Olds Custom Cruiser that HAS the wood; it's begun to peel around the rear wheel wells, but other than that looks pretty darn good and after seeing all this encouragement here well MAYBE I outta just go LOOK again!:whew::idea: I'll keep you all posted. "KEEP them Wagons Rollin'!" (y)
