Its come to unfortunately sell my faithful wagon. The worse part is the only people that seem interested in her are junk yard, however this is my first internet post. Its a great 1984 Oldsmobile Customer Cruiser. She has 172,000 miles on her all original. The biggest issue is after a while of driving the transmission has trouble shifting into second gear. It will work it just has trouble remebering how to get there. I.e. on a hill it will run first gear a bit longer before hitting second, or it will over shift into third. I wasn't sure if it needed a new transmission or if its a small adjustment.

The car is in great shape and completely original. A/C and cruise control does not work, and fuel gauge will stay at 3/4 untill you pass it and then work normally again but other than that its completely functional. The interior is in great shape. No cuts or tears in the seats, only thing that is wrong with the interior is in the back section the roof lining is falling down. Also the passenger sun visor keeps flipping forward towards the windshield instead of laying flat against the roof.

There is a little rust on the side panels behind the rear wheels and a tiny bit on the door and a few more sections of small surface rust. All easily fixable. This car runs and drives great aside from that second gear issue. Very well taken care of. For a good portion of its life it sat in a garage and used twice a year. It was handed down to my parents and used as a daily driver for some time including road trips. Finally handed down to me, It was very well taken car of and I have numerous maintenance documents for it as well as a list of work, when it was done, mileage, and what was done.

The asking price is only $750!! I would rather see this leave my house as a parts car than on a flatbed destined for the junk yard. I am located in Webster MA. It currently does not have plates on it.

I will post more pictures when I can get home this afternoon. Please save this wagon, it means a lot to me.

Heres the wagon on this site:

Also the grill was replaced two summers ago. So that piece is there and not missing.

Good luck on the sale of your station wagon. Sounds like a fair price and an honest description. Would make good basic transportation for someone and perhaps a fixer-upper.
Finding someone close by will be the problem.

If I didn't have two Caprices in my driveway already...
I know there was a Member here who lives in Gloucester who was looking for a wagon- but I haven't seen him about lately.
Straycat12 is in RI, maybe he'll chime in on this?
My uncle on the North Shore was looking for a wagon as a work car, but he is looking for something that doesn't require extensive repair bodywise. So any detailed pics of that rust would be helpful.

I will get closer pictures tomorrow for you all. I will be happy to answer any questions here or on my phone. Tele number is 508-309-9491 and I will gladly email all my pictures to any email to help this wagon stay from a junk yard.

    Thanks for the additional info/pictures.
I'll pass this along to my uncle- can't promise anything though.
I tried working over my wife earlier- no good so far. I def agree- the car/ body's too nice to scrap, and GM wagons of that sort just aren't easy to find here.

Thank you for passing this along. If it doesnt happen it doesnt happen I understand. If I dont get any buyers I may just stick it in a storage unit for ten years or so. For all the memories, the family history, the road trips, I wont allow a junk yard to be its resting place.

You're quite welcome- I just sent him the link and your contact information.
I can understand your reluctance to not let it go to a premature grave with your sentimental attachments to it. I feel the same about my 1st wagon and it is a real wreck rust wise.
Has it been in your family since new?

Im reluctant to sell it too, but I has been sitting there, off the road since August of last year and my family has a spare car. I want it to go to a good home rather than rusting in my driveway or at least driven. Weather a rust fest or not a car deserves to be driven in my opinion.

As far as I know it has been in the family since new. My grand parents are a bit spotty on the details but I know we purchased it new in 85'. It lived in upstate NY for a good ten years, then on the cape in a garage used twice a year so no salt on it. The here to Webster. It was my first car, my best friend through high school, and even helped me start college. She never failed me, temperamental sometimes, but never failed.

Dang it. Good luck selling it and goes to a good home. It's so close to my Estate wagon it's not funny. Wish I had the funds and wasn't so far away.
