Where'd you get your "wood"? And was it difficult to apply? Especially around the fender flares? Is a heat gun the key? What did you use for the wood surround?
Nice wood-job Clark. 2 hours east? Peterborough or Belleville? Ah, It's been since 1977 since I've been out that way, in Oshawa and Bowmanville. Army in London and Kingston. Like your Mopar too.
CFB Trenton to be exact. We are 10 miles west of Belleville. My friend Rick Harland who happens to have a 66 Impala wagon with air bag suspension ordered and applied the fake wood grain on my Malibu. He has a graphic and sign business. He took extra care and time applying the faux wood paneling. He wanted all the fake grain lines to align and match on each of the car's body panels. He did a wonderful job. The photo doesn't do it justice. I mean every friggin wood grain matched to the next one perfectly. Wilson Ontario Canada
Sorry.....The wood surround is actually chrome trim. It's hard to see in the photo. I was going to use light brown trim tape but it didn't look very good at all. Finally tried some chrome trim by accident and it really pops. It was easy and quick and very durable and cheap. Wilson
Here is what the car looked like before the fake wood panel was applied. Also the car used to ride on Corvette ralley rims.
Years ago, I used to go the drags out that way, near Brockville. Ran a furniture factory in Colborne too. Your friend did a super job on the woodgrain! Really accents the car's lines!
Thanks for the kind words about the wagon. I get a lot of thumbs up with it. It does make a great daily driver in the summer here in Canada. I drive a Hemi Magnum the rest of the year.
