And the finest year for that generation IMO looks wise:thumbs2:. I actually prefer the 4 door. Big B body fan here, both GM and Chrysler!

Wow Krash, "Ask and you shall receive". Leave it to you to find a Grand Nat wagon! Very Cool.

FYI, making that required more work than just bolting on a new doghouse. The coupe sheetmetal is slightly wider than the sedans where the front fenders meet the doors. Some good bodywork went on to make that GN wagon look so good!

Another thing that takes away from the sedans vrs the coupes, the front windshield on the coupes leans back further than on the sedans and wagons. The roof on the sedans and wagons is taller as well.

What years? I'm trying to picture any Monte Carlo from '73-'87 and it seems like they would all have conflicting body lines with the Malibu counterpart.

I'm not able to find a sedan with a Monte front, but here's an El Camino with the Monte front. You have to use the Mone doors as well. Notice in the first pic, the arrows show where the lines on the El Camino have to change to line up with the Monte sheet metal.

The Cutlass and Regal doors are wider than the Elky/Malibu doors, so the 1/3 panels have to be modded to make them line up.

But once done you can have some unique cars!

Man, those "Camino" conversions are cool as hell. Especially the BOP versions. You forgot this one, though.

G.M. built ONE 59 Pontiac 'El Camino' prototype, and it still exists. There was a picture or article that mentioned it, with pictures, in "Collectable Automobile" magazine.

My Grandad had one, but I don't think it was factory.. I loved it so much of all the cars I ever experienced in my lifetime. It suffered a broken timing chain, and sat parked for quite awhile. He offered to give it to my older brother if he wanted to learn to fix it. You know a father son type deal. Alas my brother never liked him (truth be told he hated him), and was never into doing more than driving cars, so he said no.

I always loved my Grandfather dearly, didn't get along with my brother, and loved cars and hanging out with Granddad. I begged him to let me have the same deal, but I was young and he said it was to big of a job for me and he was to old to do the work.

Well, I didn't know anything really, certainly not enough to question his wisdom. Certainly now as a Grup and tinkerer, I truly believe I could have handled the job. O well, water under the bridge, here it is, I am the youngest one high center...

That is a 1960 Pontiac in the picture, and it certainly is not factory. The back of the cab on the Pontiac prototype was made to look as well integrated to the design as it is on the El Camino. That looks like it was likely a 2 door Catalina wagon that got rearranged. Too bad your Grandfather didn't have faith in you. That looks like a fun car to have.
