I was on my way home from work and a 2005ish Roush pulls up beside me and I was lugging it in 5th at about 55mph so it was kind of loud. Well he goosed his and I goosed back and he nailed it and I down shifted to 2nd did the same, when I shifted to 3rd she popped and the shifter jumped over to the right. I pulled about a car length and let off when it popped. I pulled off at a gas station and checked it out to see the mount sitting a little angled/turned. Well I guess its a good time to buy those solid drop mounts for the 351 Windsor swap.
Yep! This winters project is deflowering the wagon. She won't be sweet and innocent anymore. I plan on putting a 351 Windsor in her. After I get it up and going and all nice and neat, I am going fab up a turbo on it. I am going to EFI and a 70mm turbo. As far as the exhaust goes I am going from the single outlet from the turbo to a Y and run it to the rear and have a 2 1/2" pipe out both sides behind the rear wheels in the factory place. then maybe next winter I will go with a DSS 410 stroker with AFR 255 alum. heads. I have a QA1 tubular K Member and will be buying a set of solid drop mounts so I can try to fit everything under the factory hood. I am also going to try to keep it as quiet as I possibly can. Hopefully it will fit. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Hey streetmonkey, do you know how much the solid drop mounts drop the motor down? i would like to put the stock hood back on my car. that QA1 kit is nice thats what i have in my car with there coilovers. if you do the coilovers and want it low order there shorter coils. mine are all the way down and the car still needs to come down about an inch.
And the Roush guy probably laughed his freakin' a$$ off! Go get him Streetmonkey! When you do, ask him when he last had a real Torquer that could rip the mounts off! They must have done something to this little 3.3L six of mine, cause she moves! And she's not even tuned up! Rides so smooth and handles turns like a race car. Good luck with that.
Will do. It will be done over the winter so it will take a while (I work about 70ish or more hours a week). I plan on hiding all of the wiring between the fender and inner fender. I am smoothing the inner fenders also and welding tabs on the backside of the inner fender to tie the wiring to. I'll post pick of the progress before, during, and after. And what I did if I ran into any problems. Right now I am trying to find an 86 mustang dash harness that hasn't been butchered. Thats so I can use my factory dash (same as 79-86 Mustang dash) and go EFI without any headaches. And my dad just told me to order the solid engine mounts as part of my birthday coming up on the 26! as far as the amount of drop, I'll measure it now and after I get them on and let you know.
//omg!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry to get off topic, but DAYYYYYYYYYYYYUM that;s a nice wagon. How'd I miss that?
Nice! Fun stuff. I messed with a Roush on a roll, I got my ass handed to me, and then I noticed the state police tags on it!
