    My wagon started a record 4 consecutive days. I finally got the fuel issues fixed. Redone gas tank new lines put in a rebuilt carb and found out pat of the problem was bad pcv hose! Starts first turn of the key now. Dad says count your blessings and sell it now. NO WAY MAN! My injuries are almost healed completely finally some luck!

    Next thing is a long trip to make sure car is really dependable. Or just take it out on a nice day and put 50-75 miles on it. That will give at least some idea things are good.

    Sounds like you're over the hump.. gotta hang onto it now. Yes, agreed... take it out and drive the wheels off it for awhile... Good job. :thumbs2:

    Sounds like my rust issues with the Cavalier a couple weeks ago. I sure wish they had an Advance or Autozone or something that is open in the evenings.

    Day 1 it blew a brake line when the wife was driving so she left it at her dad's. I went and looked at it in the dark and fluid was pouring from the line at the drivers side rear just in front of the wheel.

    Day 2 I bought that brake line and adapters. Went to put it on after work and had it all done except the connection to the master. They sold me the wrong adapter.

    Day 3 I went back for the correct adapter. Put it on after work and fluid is still pouring out the same area. Turns out both the drivers side and passenger side lines go down the drivers side. I should have looked closer I guess, but my other FWD GMs of the same era are not like that.

    Day 4 I go get the parts for the passenger rear brake line. Put that on and jostled the gas lines a bit in the process. I drove it around the block a few times and good brakes.

    Few days later the kid drives it and it starts stalling out. Must have cracked loose rust in the gas lines enough to plug the fuel filter which is obviously original. Looked at it and there was no way it was coming off in one piece. For 89 on my other GM cars, GM went to nylon line and plastic clip on fuel filter. Not on this 91 Cavalier. Still the old style screw on filter and rotten steel lines. So ordered a new fuel sender with lines off ebay (cheapest way by far, just over $30 shipped). I also did what I have done for other 88 and down a-bodies, I bought SAE30R7 hose and high pressure clamps to go all the way from the sender lines to the engine. I use an 89 Celebrity fuel filter, cut the supplied nylon hose in half, and attach each end to the rubber hose with dual high pressure clamps tightened just right to securely clamp but not smash the line. Always have to argue with the parts store guys about using it for fuel injection. They always say I need the $8/foot hose that's good to 900 PSI. SAE30R7 is rated for 50 PSI WORKING pressure (not burst pressure), and these fuel pumps always put out around 38-44 PSI so I am within the operating range. Some cars I installed this over 10 years ago and still no problems.

    When the sender came in, I dropped the tank and replaced the sender and lines. As usual the worst part was working the tank bolts back and forth to not break them off or rip apart the floorpan. Took like 5 hours to do it all but finally it is all done. Shouldn't have any more worries about leaking in the rear now. The fronts are good.

    All in all cost me about $150. Could have gone to a brake shop and MAYBE get 1 line done for that.

    Brakes, fuel, and cooling, biggest problems on old vehicles. ............Ooops! No one mentioned cooling lately!

    Oh my. That's $30-$50 worth of gas on that car....:evilsmile:

    Down here they are building new gas stations with a loan company window on the side. :slap:
