I’m digging #8! http://editorial.autos.msn.com/10-best-vehicles-for-the-end-of-the-world?ocid=xnetr2-1#1
The people who made this list never owned #3, Do they have a stock pile of transmissions in a storage bunker of them? When gas gets short, this is the one to have. When she runs out, peddle your ass to the next place you can refill the tank. 100 miles to 3 liters of gas, 8 gears, 5 inched of susp travel, hydraulic brakes shoot, you can't loose. Strap one of these to a bike rack of your combat vehicle, so you are never stranded. http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2010/07/23/motorized-mountain-bike-traveling-light/
In any event, nobody can predict what exactly will happen, I doubt there will be roads or fuel in about a months time after anyway. If an EMP goes off, nothing newer than 1970 will remain running. If a massive earthquake happens there will be so many bridges down that anything with wheels will need to float and have propellers to cross rivers and streams. With the brainwashing happening in our schools... the zombie thing is more prevalent than most of us think! (Just saying...) Being a fundamentalist Christian, I believe the end is not far off based on passages in Mark, Isaiah and Revelation. I don't fear it, nor do I hoard water and food. I believe we Christians will be gone in "the blink of an eye" leaving all the chaos behind till Christ returns 7 years later to reclaim his throne in Jerusalem. Before that happens tho... two thirds of the remainder of the population will die in the tribulations that follow during the last 4.5 years. My Ranch Wagon will probably still be running being that it has points and a tube radio. But the economics of the time may not allow it.
HAHAHA Mike! Snowballs? Snowballs? WHERE'S THE F****N TWINKIES!!!!!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvQHbtqHNsQ
I guess I have to dig out my old copy of "Mad Max" aka "the Road Warrior" and watch it again. There have got to be a couple of wagons in it...
In my opinion that list is worthless. I think I'm going to make a top ten list and see if it can get published for the heck of it. I'm not going to get into the religious aspect of it, but we all know there is a great chance of some natural or man made disaster that can cause food and fuel supplies to be cut off. I think the best mode of transportation would be a mule. Strong and lots of endurance. I believe the people in the big cities are in more trouble because supplies will run out quick and there will be lots of panic. Most people in rural areas know how to take care of themselves without the help of outsiders. However, ever since man starting reasoning, he has thought the end was around the corner.
The Road Warrior was actually the sequel to Mad Max. If you can pick up Mad Max on DVD with the original Australian dialogue, it makes much more sense than the North American version. It even explains why Max's yellow interceptor says "The Dark One" on the side which was a mystery to me throughout my years of watching the NA release. There's a nice little Holden Sport Ute in Mad Max but I don't recall any other wagons. Guess it's time for me to re-watch it too.
Me too. Meanwhile, no one mentioned that if theres no electricity, then you won't be pumping gas into any of those vehicles. Over all, if the world is coming to an end, the #1 vehicle on the list should have been something that will actually take you off this little rock and transport you to some other planet. Alot of good any of those vehicles will do anyone if a sizable stray astroid takes aim on the planet.
The end times... I, of course, will seek out a wagon. Several probably. A couple of small ones for tight spaces and ease on fuel. One or more mid to full size ones will always be my first choice. And of course one of the huge titanics of the 70s and preferably a clamshell. Other vehicles for doomsday consideration: The Classic Amphicar: http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2010/05/the-amphicar-the-little-floater-with-big-plans/ The ugly TREKOL: http://www.odditycentral.com/pics/trekol-the-floating-car.html An amphibious car will be your friend and liberator. http://www.finesttech.com/cars/the-new-floating-car/
