Tedy, O love those shepherds of yours, they have great smiles.

This should be a cool thread. I'll have to stage a shot when I get a chance.

Our family pet, Izzy, a 3 year old Husky mix, as many know, was recently laid to
rest behind Grampa's Quonset. A mid-night run cut short as he attempted to cross the
near by Highway that cuts through town, normally quiet that time of night.
My boys found him early the next day on a Sunday.

Well, now we have Sully, a 9 month old Great Dane, all black save a couple white spots on his heels
with a small spot on his chest. He's a rescue dog, left for dead and was very underweight and
malnourished when we brought him home a couple days after Christmas. He's doing great.
Back to ideal weight, growing, shedding teeth, a gentle giant who loves to romp in the living room,
    his dog house.

Where as Izzy loved the outdoors and would rarely let us bring him in, and whom thrived best when
the wind and snow were blowing and the thermometer plunged below zero, Sully is the 'polar' opposite,
which fits us fine. He's all the things Izzy was just beginning to become as I worked to integrate Izzy
    o the indoors more often.

Izzy loved the wagon, Sully, too early to tell but he did great when I took him to the vet.

I'll have to get those pictures taken ... I'll be back .....

Great pics WM although this is not a dog, but the cool cats around here, and me will like it...

Thanks guys, yea, Tedy, it hurt very deep but it was as much for the rest of the family as for the pooch himself. A very tough deal.
This is the best I can do for the time being. Sully lends to cartooning quite well. Some day this won't be an exaggeration...

This was the night we brought Sully home @ 47lbs, about 15 under weight:

This was a couple weeks ago at 75 lbs, he looks even bigger and better now, I guess he's around 85lbs.

When we were first married we had a Great Dane for a short time, a Brindle. It was amazing how quick he became attached. However he didn't like cats, he attack my cat's kitten... couldn't keep him after that.

However your guy looks like a keeper. They are graceful, devoted dogs for sure. He's a beauty, congratulations. :)

Thank you. He is a little , er , 'ruff' with the cat but it is her house and
so far she gives as much as she gets and has, thus far, been able to make it to her refuge
in the basement. So far, he's only been willing to take a couple steps down to the dungeon...
That is a beautiful Brindle Fannie. A dane never entered my thinking until we left the Humane
Society our first day of looking. There, they had an incredible white, 1 year old female. She had 1
small spot behind the rt. ear and blue eyes but was deaf, so she was a special needs adoption.
She went home that same day. Sully was a lot more in need, in my opinion, my 4 kids and their
mom agreed so, here I am, working at home, raising another puppy. And I never thought I'd
    learn to juggle ...

I really like the looks of the Bernies....they have a great face that makes them look intelligent. Not a small dog apparently by the pic with the young boy......

The dog's paw is bigger than the boy's hand!

Similar in size to a Newfoundland or English sheep dog, about 2/3 the size of a full grown St. Bernard male. Big, yes, but not the biggest. I like that they kind of retain a puppy like look.
