Why do a GTO tribute when you could do a ET tribute. There are plenty of GTOs, tributes, and same for The Judge, but how many ETs do you ever see.

I like the Royal Bobcat GTO and a phantom ET convertible is a great idea. I do like the simplicity of just
    adding the slash stripe.
I't wouldn't be difficult to do that with my car as planned and I do have the Rally IIs in
place, tho mine are 15" not the correct 14s. When the time comes for another major overhaul I may
build the 350 to it's HO potential but I'm happy with it as is... I'd rather go crazy on the Buick.
Regarding the Judge comment, I was being sarcastic, as I agree with you, far too many have been built.

Well since it's a hypothetical car, let's say the ET convertible would have had 15s. It's definitely something a Pontiac collector might want.

    Salvage Title

Here in KY if you buy a car from out of state with a swapped engine you automatically get a SALVAGE title. Makes no sense to me but, that's just one of the weird things about the DMV up here that I have discovered. I don't think it will have as much bearing on a classic car as it does on new stuff. Restore it for yourself and enjoy. I love to see Classics on the road. Of course "Classic" is subjective. Here and home in NC that's anything over 25 years old. Just think, the 3rd gen Camaro is now classic in the eyes of the DMV!

My brother's plain Jane Plymouth Voyager mini van would have been a classic if he'd held on to it. I bet he kicks himself for letting it go now......

OK, I consider myself a Pontiac nut, but I give up? What's the ET Convertible?

I had to refresh my memory too and I even knew about the ET. There never was a convertible version, rather, it was a pillared
coupe painted in Carrousel red and sporting a stripe very similar to the Judge. (Royal Bobcat used the 'hash on some cars.)
It had a High output 400 with tons of secret performance parts to make it a strip ready, (Elapse Time) urban assault vehicle.
It was based on the Tempest to keep it cheap as to compete in the market against the Road runner; even has the Tempest/CustomS's
base interior with a bench seat.
The brass shot it down but out of the project, later in the production year, came the Judge package .
In a twist, the Judge ended up loaded with 'luxury' goodies that put it on the opposite end of the price spectrum.

Here are a couple of my car as is. I painted the broken and badly oxidized grille inserts. I have the PONTIAC script. I left it off cause it's so damn fun to see people who think they know so much try to figure out what it is. The smart ones say GTO, others a Chevy... still others (the ones not afraid to ask for directions when lost) say, "What is it?"

    It's good side

Can' be that smart if they think a 68-72 GTO has a chrome front bumper. Atleast guess it's a Lemans.

Now paint it red again, but that red that's really orange haha.

The Endura (body colored composite-plastic) bumper was actually an option.
If you see a GTO with a chrome bumper, don't be too quick to assume it isn't a true GTO, as ordered. They were most popular in '69 but any authentic ones are probably quite rare.

Interesting thing about that photo of the ET, above; it's actually a '68 'pillared' coupe with a '69 front end (grille and lower valance) It probably had
the '69 rear bumper, trunk lid and tail lamps. The give-away is the front vent windows, not a feature on production '69s.....

I believe you are correct about the GTO being smooth but I'm not sure. All original parts for these cars are becoming hard to find. Every car I've come across for a left fender seems to have the same damage as well. It does stick out past the wheel almost as far as my 90 Buick so I assume a lot of people hit their garages or had parking lot wrecks just like mine. I bought it this way, however. I did add a nice new crease in the left door and quarter panel when I cut a corner too tight in a parking structure. The curb was too tall and wouldn't move out of my way. I knew I should'a gone a bit faster and got 'er up on the two outside wheels. Oh well, shoulda- woulda- (not sure I)-coulda.....

This thread wasn't really supposed to be about my car so much as the title question. Hope all the wagoneer mods and purists don't mind the diversion...

...it really isn't all about me ....

    Mark,
If you look at my wagon it is highly modified (now a 2dr). I decided to go this way after the wagon was totaled by a drunk driver(2007). However due to State law and the age of car it will not carry a salvaged title. However I will have to get a new vin and title to the car now that major changes to the body have occured. I have talked to my resto dudes who completed a 1972 Chevelle and had to do the same due to engine change and resto. So look at the Nebraska DMV web site for more info. As I understand it the new vin will require an appraisal and new tax roll. So try to keep the restoration low key!! Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

for me personally i would not to a car with a salvage title [ unless it was to scrap it] i prefer buying a good car or truck with a clean and clear title oh and bob are you joking on the $150,000.00 you said you sold that car for.
