This is by no means a restoration project - just a "make it into a fun and useful muscle wagon driver" project. So here's the latest stuff: got a nice set of steel rally wheels from Wheel Vintiques, put on dual exhaust with Flowmasters, and had a piece welded in the bottom of the spare tire well where it was rusted out. Next, replace a few pieces that are broken on the exterior, like the center grill section and one taillight. Getting there.
Jealous of the condition of that exterior. Wish mine was even close to looking like that. Next: holley 750 4bbl carb?
I'd like to put a 4 barrel on it, but I was told by someone that with this motor (390) it wouldn't be as simple to swap the manifold and carb. In other words, it was suggested to me that to make that combo work well, I'd have to change the heads. Truthfully I don't know enough to know whether that's true.
I like those rims, look like the mopar cop rims. I had a set on my 80 Colony. Are you gona cap and beauty ring them?
Your car looks like it is in pretty nice condition. The mechanical changes you're doing should make the car more fun to drive.
Thanks for the supportive comments, everyone. It's nice being a part of this community. And this car sure is fun to have around so far.
Those look like the GM Vette/Chevelle/Camaro wheels in the 4 1/2 bolt pattern, you can see where the caps mount onto the inside near the lugs, not the outside of the rib like a dog dish cap will fit. Are you gonna get the General Motors derby caps for them or is there a different center offered by Wheel Vintiques?
Ford had a few style of rim just like you mention in the late 60's early 70's Black, cap mounts to the inside.... Kinda hard to see, but if you sqwint you can see the inside nub...
Yeah, I'm actually gonna leave them as is for now. I may be in the minority, but I think they look kinda tough (in a good way) without caps.
Not sure what you mean - it's an aftermarket rim, with dual bolt pattern made to fit either. Yes, it's styled pretty closely after the GM wheels.
