After reading the section on "Intros and why they are needed" I thought I would do a little better job introducing myself. My given name is Bentley, and I live in North Georgia. I run an Antique Car Restoration Shop, and we have a great time working on old cars every day. All the visitors who come to the shop say they would work there for free if they could. I work there for free most days, so I have to agree. I got into the Station Wagons recently when I saw one at a car show. I realized how cool and practical they were, yet have been almost totally forgotten by the public. I got a deal on a Yellow Vista Cruiser, (hence the name) but it turned out to be more work than I wanted to do, so I sold it, and got this 1970 Cutlass Wagon, that I have driven about every day. I use it as a shop vehicle to chase parts, and plan to put it in our local car shows this spring. I have a ton of stuff to do to it, including some beautification, making some general repairs, and finding a few missing parts. I'll try to keep you guys posted. Thanks for having me, I hope I can be a positive addition to the group.
Welcome aboard! Sweet Cutlass - I bet you get a LOT of positive feedback when you're driving that baby around town!
That's a heck of a Cutlass you got there and it sounds like you've got a bit of a dream job. Welcome!
Hidey ho good GA wagon neighbor! Welcome to the madness!(Nice Cutlass btw, 1970 was a great year for those)
Hey Mellow Yellow. I'll work for beer, never for free, I still have a small sliver of self-respect left. Nice flattop, much rarer than the Vista Cruisers. I just finished a four year resto on a '71 Vista Cruiser, showed it a few times and picked up some trophies then sold it last summer, no fun once they're done. I know what you mean about working for free, I made 12 bucks on mine, went and bought some beer. I see you need the lower tailgate sweep strip, they rub the bumper and scratch the top surface when they drag the dust across when you open and close it so maybe better off without it. Classicoldsmobile.com is the place to be for Oldsmobiles, a few guys doing wagon restos, tons of good knowledge and parts sources. Fusick's is repo'ing some of the wagon parts now, they ripped off a pic of my car from the internet and put it on the cover of their catalog. The only thing I got out of it was bragging rights. I thought Id give a newer model a shot for once with the '92 Custom Cruiser I picked up in San Diego, first fuel injected car I've ever worked on, sort of a n updated Vista Cruiser, gots the roof window, wish it had an eight track. Here's my former vehicle, now in a private collection in New England, lives in a building with European sports cars and is rarely driven,. Two brothers bought it, their dad had one just like it when they were kids. So is your car named "Electrical Banana"? Hmmm...I think I may name my OCC "Starshine" now. I could serenade her with the "Glibby gloop gloopy Nibby Nabby Noopy La La La Lo Lo Sabba Sibby Sabba Nooby abba Nabba Le Le Lo Lo Tooby ooby walla nooby abba nabba Early mornin' singin' song". My dogs could croon along with me too.
