....hmmmm....been quite awhile since bd posted here. I was hoping that he would give us a play by play. I could be way wrong, of course, but, I have a feeling that a car guy with money in his pocket may have swooped into bd's garage and the car is now at a different location with a new owner. If I'm right, I hope the new owner is a member here and will bring us up to date. If I'm wrong, I hope bd will give us technical and pictorial updates soon.
I am like you. I think it would be a nice one and I hope we get an update. It for sure would be the biggest car on the block!
I put a fresh bat. in and everything works even the power gate. I will admit that was cool! Pulled the plugs and started spraying pb blaster. changed oil and put mystery oil in it. let it soak. let it soak some more. tryed to turn it over by hand, got it start moving. But the daily drivers started breaking so the wagon went back to the barn. But this time up on blocks. I ran a ad in a local paper for $1000 got alot of calls but no one showed up. So that is were she is .
How has this not sold yet? If I were closer I would have to consider it. This reminds me of a local 68 Bonneville I need to go check out again.
I havent been on here in awhile, so I was happy to see this car on here. It looks like a Catalina Safari rather than a Grand Safari. The 72 Pontiac wagons are one of my favorites. This car is a very rarely seen color. I have only seen it one other time on a 71 Grand Safari. This wagon appears to have had the woodgrain replaced at one time, as the original woodgrain on these cars is darker (see factory pic below). The car appears to be a Catalina Safari, as it does not have the Grand Safari emblems on the exterior and it has the Catalina grille. It does have the woodgrain option and the optional custom cushioned wheel, which are nice touches to make it more like the Grand Safari, which was based on the Bonneville in '72. It also has the custom wheel covers. I like the bias-ply tires on it. Still a very nice and rare car, would love to see it get a good home. Is it a 2-seater or a 3-seater?
It does say Catalina on the dash. It also has the 3rd row seat. I would really like to sell it. I would do $800 if anyone is interested. thanks 419-749-2381
