Maybe if you guys started calling it "petrol", you'd get some lower prices too like the rest of us. :yup:

I could never figure that out .... the big oil tankers arrive in the bay area and they process it all right there into gas (richmond) and up here about 140 miles above the city it is always 30 cents a gallon cheaper than SF... I dont get it!

Last I looked, it was 3.12 or 3.13 a gallon, depending where you go.

GASOLINE with 10% or more corn juice is around $3.35 a GALLON in beautiful downtown Chiefland and Gainesville today. I've never bought a liter of anything I can't drink and don't remember going to a PETROL establishment in the midwest or south.

-----Me too! CLARK SUPER 100. Checked oil, water, tires, and washed the windows...for 50 cents an hour! Only sold 100 octain at around 34.9 unless there was a gas war. That included Green Stamps and a free glass with every 10 gallons. We said "thank you sir or ma'am" and smiled a lot!
Now I pump my own for over $3 and stand and wait for the owner sell lotto tickets and beer!.

You must be a youngster. I remember for sure that I pumped gas at 19 cents a gallon. I remember when it was cheaper than that when I was a little kid but don't remember pumping it at the cheaper prices. You got 50 cents an hour?!?!:yikes:

:biglaugh:You are talking a time when I was in my teens, I think. I started pumping gas around 8 or 9 years old, IIRC. I do remember my dad pumping gas out of the old hand pumps with the glass reservoirs. :yup:

Gas was about 35 cents a gallon when I started in the full service Gulf station in 1971. We had a busy one, 100,000 gallons month, car wash, full mechanic service/repair. Great place to learn about cars. Think I made 1.75 to start??
