Yup....free is good!Now....THAT is a real barn find without a doubt! It is still in sand up to the rockers! And I love the car. How's the interior....lots of mice damage? What's it have for an engine? Most importantly...... What's the bottom line?
Nice Stude....welcome to the forum. I had not realized it until someone here mentioned it in a post the other day, the Studebaker Lark has some parts in common with these earlier Studebakers. Check out the front door - appears to me to be the same one that fits on a Lark 4-door.

I know this car. From 1993 to 1995, my family managed the Gustine Gun Club in Gustine, CA, this car was originally owned by a man named Henry Pierotti, who, at one time, owned a Studebaker dealership, which later turned into a Volvo, and IIRC Datsun store. If I remember correctly, the dealership was called Pierotti Place, and it was in Hayward, CA. He relocated his dealership to a newly opened auto mall in the late 80s or early 90s, ended up going broke, and selling everything off, as the story goes, as I recall it. He drove this car all over the country, until the mid to late 60s, retiring the car to being essentially a "jeep" driving through the marsh, out to duck blinds, this was his hunting rig...That's why there is so much rust and mud all over the car. There is a rust hole in the drivers side floor board, typical on these as I have heard. In the late 70s or early 80s, Mr. Pierotti bought a chevy suburban to use around the duck club. The car was parked in a large barn, where it sat, until 1994. At this time, the car was either purchased by, or given to, the club president at the time, a man by the name of Don Bacci. In the late summer of 1994, my dad purchased this vehicle from Mr. Bacci for one dollar. Reason? He always wanted to purchase a car for a dollar. We hooked the tractor up to the Studebaker, pulled it out of the barn, and sprayed it down, cleaning off a good 80-100 pounds of MUD that was all over the vehicle, undercarriage, etc. He towed the vehicle with the tractor to the other side of the club, and we parked it in another barn. I never heard the car run. It has been sitting for quite some time. As I recall, it was missing one of the V8 emblems on the fender, the other one was present, yet very loose, you could remove it with your hand. The lock cyl. in the rear glass was screwd up, insert a key, and the entire lock cyl would come out with the key. There was a rust hole in the drivers floor, quite a bit of rust along the lower doors, fenders, etc. The horn trim ring was not on the steering wheel, however, it was in a wood box in the back seat that had some misc parts in it. The car had truck tires, mud tires on it, one of which would not hold air, so we put the orig. white wall spare on. The original wheel covers where in the back of the car...Oh, the radio is present and original, however, all the connectors where cut off by some dumb kid who wanted to remove the radio...radio was reinstalled, also, there is a bracket on the back of the radio that is NOT screwed in, thanks to the same dumb kid, (me) There are some Ducks Unlimited and California Waterfowl Assoc. stickers on the rear windows...the glove box last I saw, was full of old registration renewel forms, that indicated that at one time, the car has a vanity plate that said "DUCKS" Also, there is a cheepie napa auto parts turn signal switch attached to the steering column, and a cheepie horn button screwed into the bottom of the dash on the drivers side. When we had it the chrome trim along the leading edge of the hood was NOT broken, and the grill, i believe had one bar missing, laying directly behind the grill...looks like some sort of mishap occured since then. I have not seen this car since June of 1995, the next time I went down to where it has been previously located, was Nov. of 2000, I was told that "a few years ago somebody came and picked it up and took it away" I figured it was scrap metal, I guess not. Sure would love to see it restored...then again, rust never sleeps. Earl
Thanks Classics andearlsays . And Quit an interesting story. Be worth buying the wagon to go with that story. Be amazing if it isn't rusted badly underneith. Does not look too bad from photos. Hope you enjoy the station wagon forum and continue posting.
That thing looks like it's been sitting in the Blair Witches basement garage. Looks like a LOT of work ahead for someone.
I assure you that car has A TON of rust everywhere...this car came from an area of marsh land that was all over the news from the mid 70s to the late 80s due to a HUGE selenium contamination problem, which claimed a 500 acre cattle ranch at the end of the road...so, the car has....chemical contamination as well Actually I'd love to buy it myself if it was still available...seems like it would be good for nothing more than a complete resto-mod, as putting it back to factory original would be more than likely impossible, where do you get original parts for those? It is the only one I have ever seen in person. Looks like it was just drug from one barn to another. Actually, I found this on craigslist a few months ago, tried to e-mail the seller, only to find the posting had expired just weeks prior to my discovery.
Welcome to the madness Earl. Enjoyed reading about the relic. Maybe it'll make someone a good parts car anyway?
