I have two 1960 Hillman Husky cars. There are fairly rare here in the USA
but they still can be found if you look hard enough. As produced by the British
"Rootes Group" ,they actually use the same basic chassis as the Sunbeam Alpine as well as the Sunbeam Tiger.

I'll try to post a few photos soon.

I really like these little guys. There was a restored one I'd pass now and then when taking a short cut to work. Grey and white. Beautiful. Glad you found the forums.

Thanks for the comments.... yes I really like these little cars.
They have a surprisingly large cargo area with the back seat down !

    Husky

    :Welcome:
Since they used the Sunbeam/Tiger chassis, why not upgrade it with the Alpine Series 4/5 1725 cc w/dual side draft carbs or go whole hog with a Tiger package.

I have owned both a Alpine Series 4 & 5 Alpines and they were quick little buggers!

Welcome aboard and enjoy being with us.

---------Didn't someone put a Ford 260/289 in a Tiger and call it something else? That was where I got the idea of putting a Chevy 327 in an Austin Healey Sprite and did it. There are so many new small engines for all these tiny cars now!

The Alpine with the 260 Ford was the Tiger. How tight was the engine fit? You either had to pull the engine or cut holes in the fender wells to get to a couple of the spark plugs...

On my 1960 Sprite there was room for spark plug access. I had to use a Powerglide tranny because of foot space between the tranny tunnel. I started with 2-4 carb setup which cleared under hood. Then went to 3-2's so had to make hood scoop for front carb with those small helmet aircleaners. I don't remember but I'm sure I had to adapt the inner fender area. This was in mid-60's. -This is not my Austin Healey Sprite. Just a photo I found quickly!-We actually drove it from Peoria, Ill to Indy and back once. Mine was maroon and had the extra fibreglas top similar to T-birds.

    Tiger

If memory serves me right, I believe that to change the rear plugs on the 260 in the Tiger you had to go under the dash. :whew:

Probably so. I was commenting on my own Sprite conversion with 327 Chevy! Since I put in new plugs and never drove it long enough to need changing I really don't know.
