Hi - I haven't posted in a while (life has a way of taking up my time). The Rambler is done (20 months after we started). I've put up a couple of pictures of it in the pictures section - and there are more to be found on the website.
    http://www.1965rambler.weebly.com

We've had a great time with it this summer (and with our son's 72 Wagoneer). The Rambler went to a couple of shows, which was fun, and driving it always gives me a case of "perma-smile".

This was my mother's car inthe 1960's and mine inth late 1970s into the 1980s, so getting it running again was special.

:thumbs2: I encourage everyone who is working to get their wagon on the road to stick with it - it IS worth it!

Nice looking car! Looks like it was kept pretty well throughout its life.

I had to look up what "Tri-Poised Power" was. Leave it to AMC to advertise a new engine mount system on their air cleaner.

Thanks. We were lucky that it did not have any rust past a few topical places, and it had all of its "goodies". The down side was the engine was seized and it had sat for 20 years, during which time, rats and mice had done their damage to it.

I love all the old names for things...Flash o Matic...Tri Posed...Weather Eye... they were funner than "transmission, motor mounts, and heater".

Love this tag line as I am a Bishop girl myself, and all things Eastern Sierra are close to my heart.

    Suzanne,

Great website about a great wagon :thumbs2:

My mate Gert is restoring (slowly, very slowly) a model year 1966 Rambler Classic 770 Cross Country wagon.
Click here to read more about it.

Let me know if you want me to scan the 1965 info for your website, like I did for Gert's wagon:
(Without my name on it, of course)

Well.....just, WOW, Suzanne! A year ago when you said that you were going to restore the family car....you weren't kidding! Everything looks perfect and that 65, 990 is just a super looking car. It always had great lines. GREAT job! Really....I would kill for that wagon. That has to bring back a lot of family memories, too! You should be very proud...the car is spectacular.:thumbs2::thumbs2:

    Hey, that's funny:
In my e-mail notification you typed "Suze" instead of Suzanne :)

Thanks, guys - I go by Suze sometimes - or Suzy - it sort of depends on which decade in my life people know me from.

I am really loving having my car back - and our son has another family relic running, too - a 72 AMC Jeep Wagoneer.

The Rambler isn;t perfect - we made some changes along the way. Some were because we had to - some stuff just wasn't avilable. Some were because they made sense. We tried to keep it as stock as we could.

My Dad had a 65 Classic wagon with the 232 and a standard with overdrive - hard-working car, and it got decent milage - and that is a great engine. I still have the tailgate to that car in my "extra-stuff" stash. Tell Gert good luck with it.

I am dog-less right now, but we had a big German Shepherd who used to ride in the back of our wagons, too, when we were kids.

We're getting ready to take both cars to the AMC show in Henderson NV in two weeks - if anyone is near there and can stop by, be sure to say hi.

Another great story. A car that a family grows with must have special meanings. As close as we've gotten is with the 1955 Chevy wagon and our adopted son. I hope he takes it as he says and continues enjoying the wagon for many years after we are gone to that great junk yard in the sky! :yahoo:Keep active here Suzy. As far as I know fannie is the only female on here regularly. We all love her jokes, teasing, and wagon talk. Sometimes she needs help when we gang up on her!

Matt's Wagoneer has its own Weebly page as well (it is really easy to set up a free weebly webpage).
    http://www.1972wagoneer.weebly.com

It has also been in my family since new.

It's unrestored, and he uses it as his daily driver - it's still a great off road car, and he's put a lot of work into getting it running strong. He's taken it to several car shows, too.

I am one of the few ladies over on the The AMC forum - the guys there are great. I don't know why there aren't more women involved with cars - I've always loved them.

It is really special to have a couple of family relics in the garage....and in a few weeks, my Dad will get to see them running again - that is going to be really wonderful.

My wife loves riding in all of our older cars and helps with some things when I work on them. And she is always there to encourage me, bring food, drink, and tools often. She just does not care to touch the computer which is fine with me! Altho she could use the old laptop anytime. Dollie always tells friends she knows were I am most nights. --------- At one time I could have had a very low mileage 1958 Nash Rambler 4-dr. It was my grandparents and they no longer could drive. We were young, poor, and already had too many old cars. That car was a beauty! But I also hated 4-doors and sixes.
