Will be leaving in the morning to go to the Mississippi Gulf Coast for the 15th annual Crusin' the Coast.I am a little disappointed I didn't get my wagon together for it because that was my goal but due to other obligations I will have to take '55 bel air which I wasn't sure was going to be ready either.Had bought new 2" lowering springs for it awhile back due to the car having a funny bounce when hitting dips in the road.It was a first for me but had 1 weak front coil and 1 weak leaf pack in rear on opposite side, so imagine 65mph with the front bouncing one way rear the other. My dad told me the problem (I was unsure but taking a few measurements confirmed) now everything is nice and level and added new shocks. She handles great now, so I have my camera packed and hopefully have plenty of pictures to post Sunday or Monday.
Have a fun safe trip tireman. Wish we could be there too. I dropped the wagon with two inch lower front springs awhile back. Added new rear wagon leaf springs back around 1990. Wished I'd used car springs on rear to drop it more. Take a bunch of pictures and cruise safely.
Thanks Tireman. My fave is the '69 Sport Wagon. Wow, they're not kidding when they call it Cruisin' the Coast. Is that the Gulf across the street in one of the pictures?
Yes that is the Gulf of Mexico. It takes place in about a 45 mile radius with cruise in points in 4 diffrent towns along the coast. If you ever get a chance to go it is well worth it. They call it the "World's Largest Block Party" and that is about what it is!
Great Pix. I hope to go next year! Thanks for sharing the Cruisin' the Coast pictures. I gave my friend a ride in my wagon during her visit to California. Upon her return to Biloxi she promptly called me to say that she was surrounded by every type of awesome vintage automobile! What a hoot... :2_thumbs_up_-_anima
One year after first moving to Florida we spent the weekend of Oct 13th on the beach in Panama City Beach with the 1955 wagon. People kept asking if we stayed after the car event. All I could do is ask HUH? We had no idea there was such an event or we'd gone a week earlier. Probably wouldn't have gotten a room on the beach. Still had fun and got all the Hooters gals to pose in and beside the wagon near the beach. Where did I put those pictures?
