I have a 72 pontiac grand safari ,400 with 72000 miles. been in the barn for 30 years. I am not a car guy, I like to look but not very good with a moter. I work full time as a welder and take care of the family hobby farm with my daughter.
I would lie to sell the car to someone that would get it back on the road, I have some ofers but they want to demo it. this was my grandmothers car. I have no clue what it is worth. Found this site and thought this is the best place to find out.
That photo is a good start, but we need more photos of the interior, exterior, and engine, mileage, and a good description of the car's strengths and weaknesses. Let's start with the basics. Does it start/run/drive? You say it's been in the barn for 30 years. My guess is that that means it doesn't run. Have you tried to start it? What about rust issues? Having asked all of the above, there won't be a wide latitude in value. By that I mean, even in very good condition, a car like this is worth only so much. The Old Cars Price Guide puts the value of a '72 Pontiac Grand Safari wagon in showroom condition at around $5800. If it runs and drive but needs complete restoration, the value given is about $1700. If it doesn't run but is worth more than just as a parts car, the value is around $1000. So you see that if it doesn't run and you can get it to run, you increase its value by about 70%. And it getting it to run might mean nothing more than putting in a new battery.
I put more pics on the general discussions. i would like to get running but when it comes to that kind of stuff Im like a monky with a math problem!
Welcome to the forum, bd. Maybe with a little help, you can get it running decently, and then what seems like an albatross around your neck will become something fun and nostalgic. Start with the basics. Good luck. Marshall
Welcome bd. Don't give up on that old barn burner before you get started. Sounds like your a busy guy but there are enough folks here that can help direct you and your daughter to get that beast back out into the sunlight. Are you able to post a few more pictures? Good luck with the wagon.
