Back when I had mine, they weren't quite bringing that kind of money. However, I did get a good price. I search the net from time to time to check on the car. The same guy has had it for sale for quite some time. I always recognize it because of the matching baby seat and the hidden hitch. It's still for sale for, what I consider, a ridiculous price. Here's the link.....

You would think he could at least do that.

Geez that situation (and we see this all the time...) cracks me up. Pretty good car, with maybe one or two minor things wrong with it, and instead of spending a few hundred and being able to say "EVERYTHING WORKS!", they cheap out.

If I felt this was truly a $50k car, I would tell the owner, "I'm offering $40k. If you want the $50k you'll have to fix the A/C....."

Don't remember it, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn I sat in one of those as a kid.....

I do remember riding in the front seat with my dad - standing up on the cushion!. He would fling his arm out to hold me up when he had to brake.
(This was the mid 50's folks. No seat belts. Heck - we didn't even have a padded dash to bounce off of.....)

If I had the funds, I'd jump on one of these as a project.

Don't know about this one, though. Seller states he's converting it from a 'normal' wagon (with full 'B' post) to a hardtop wagon. I think I would hold out for the real deal.....

You are right, and the rusty floor pan would demand a body-off. I bet he would take an offer though. And, I think his location might also be a problem. -- Dan.

Maybe all the rust would shake off of it by the time it got to the west coast....:rofl2:

I am finally reading some of the car mags I bought and did not get around to reading. Last night I was going through the Super Rod May 2003 issue which has a bunch of '57 cars and one is a '57 Olds Super 88 wagon. Nice car. Very nice car.

What I had not known is that, and I quote, "these wagons were not actually assembly-line vehicles, but were constructed from four-door hardtop models by Ionia Manufacturing in Ionia, Michigan. There cars were converted there to station wagons and sent on to dealers".

Neat wagons. The one in the article is a beautiful cream puff, lightly modified for today's driving. The fellows wife uses it as her driver/go to the golf course vehicle.

I believe the '59-'60 LeSabre wagons were also built the same way. Not sure what other models they did.

Very interesting, did not know that. How much did one of these wagons go for over a comparable sedan when new?
