I have seen that there is a bout 4 or 5 of you out there with good taste , so I thought I would post this up here. It's our first ever Okanagan Antique and Classic Boat show. We are expecting about 40 or so woodys, fiberglass and aluminums, ranging in years from the 30's to the 70's. So if you and your family find yourself near Sicamous BC, stop in and check it out. It's on the shores of the Shuswap so if your vacationing, stop by! There is pleanty of dockspace. There will be water displays and land displays. Here is an example of what you may see there..... Mine... PM me if you have any questions!
Any Land Yachts? I love the mahogany speed boats and any vintage Chrysler boats as well. So post pictures for us. Thanks.
I have never been but every April about 20 miles from my home they have The Madisonville Wooden Boat Festival. I say I am going every year but they have another festival going on at the same time that the wife and kids like to go to so that is where we usually end up.I will make it one of these years to it they tell me they have everything from wooden dingy's to old wooden shrimp boats to wooden luxury yachts...by the way your boat looks great!!!
Thanks Tireman! Jim, I'll post up pix after the weekend. I know there should be a couple 26 - 32 footers there. An Owens I think for sure, but I'll post up some pictures after the show.
Back in the day, we spent most summers at one of the lakes and THIS or one very similar is what we rode around in (what year is it bolt?)......
It's a '61. 17'. 283 Chris Craft (Chev). I got it from Chesapeake Bay. It was a long haul. Do you remember what kinda boat it was? Or have any pictures? And just a reminder, shows this weekend!
Oh...they were all Chris Crafts. All the kids with rich dad's had the older wood boats. Older than yours though because I rode around in them in 56 & 57. Looked a lot like yours though.
Wow, Stove, so now we know where you have been hiding. Great looking boat(s). I need to see that puppy in person. We know of a '57 (Yep, Fox, your year) in our old home town, restored 25 years ago, and I do not believe it has been used much since. It is maintained nicely, but I'd love to own it. Not sure he'd sell it. But now I'm going to have to ask.
One of my good friends in Moses Lake Washington just restored and sold a ChrisCraft very similar to yours - even with the same color scheme, but I don't know the year. I do know it had the original Chrysler flattie six in her.
So the show was a hit! The town loved it, and so did all the boaters cruising by. Tons of spectators and about 30 boats. Thats pretty good for a first time show. I can't wait for next year!! We had people come as far away as Virginia, and baots as for as Portland, Idaho and Utah. Anyway, I know there are some closet boat lovers on here, so, I'll post up the pix. Hope you enjoy them!! So Friday was spent putting boats in the water. This was the very first time for this boat in the water. It was just restored. 1946 Chris Craft Sportsman. That night, we went back to a cabin party. There was tonnes of food. The guy that owns the place has his own slurpee machine, so I was in heaven. The next day was show day. This boat was from 1900. Pretty cool lookin at what used to be new technology. It has a HP of 20. This is a 1959 Riva from Italy. It has a 429 Interceptor in it. It scoots. 1965 Glastron
wow....the MEMORIES that some of these boats bring back!! I got hungry looking at all that good food! Nice job, bolt!
Mine... So the show ended about 4pm, so we all jumped into our boats and cruised the channel between Shuswap and Mara Lakes. It was pretty cool. People were coming out of their cabins with thier cameras and video cameras. Me...
