It's ugly. Not for the faint hearted. No blood or guts just bad stuff. It makes me sick to think about it. Apparently the woman in the silver car was yacking on the phone as the story goes. She must have been going at a good clip too.

About a month ago, my '62 wagon got rear-ended at a car show, when the driver mistakenly put it into 1st instead of reverse. Lucky for me, the two cars were close enough that there was no impact damage. I would hate to think what would have happened if there was more distance between the two car. You never know when your prized possession is going to be hit.

Damn thats turruble. Heads would be rolling if that were me- ESPECIALLY if she were on her phone!!! Luckly no one was hurt, but the sad thing is she probably doesn't really get it. "What? Its just a car, that's why you have insurance...":mad::mad::mad:

I'm thinking the 40 Ford faired much better and is a simple repair. The Tempest/LeMans is lost but is replacable. Hopefully he had an appraisal and proper insurance.

Many people never insure the car for what it actually is worth, assuming that it will never be a total loss. Problem with this thinking is that today, with costs rising it doesn't take much to have the repair cost exceed the stated value. I have seen cars with minimal damage being totaled because the damage is a few thousand dollars and the stated value insurance purchased is not high enough to meet the threshold of repair. In one instance, the car was insured for $5000, and the damage was minor, but repair costs were $3500. The insurance company totaled the car, paid the owner, and put it in a salvage auction. It sold for just shy of $4000.

I'm surprised no one got hurt because if I had owned the LeMans, the lady on the phone would've definitely suffered some injuries from me. Well, maybe not since she's a woman, but I would've been screaming at her, that's for sure. I can hear her now on the phone after the impact, "Oh, I gotta call you back later. Sorry. I just scratched some old car."

Dayum....looks like this idiot lady had to go over a curb and through the bushes in a small median to GET to the Poncho! After hitting the first curb wouldn't you think she would find the brake pedal REAL QUICK!?? Looks like she got the 41 Ford, too!

    car show gone bad

Snooterbuckets is right. Several years ago I had a 38 chevy sedan and I had just finished it, a seven year project,. I met some friends for dinner and had just parked when some older, overweight woman, I'm sure you have seen them parking at Wal-Mart, parked next to me and instead of opening it normally she just kicked her door open taking a silver dollar sized chip of paint out of a rear fender. She never had the decency to leave a note. I was standing right there and watched her do it. When I asked if she had insurance she said"I don't see why you're worried about it,. it's just and old car!" and walked off all ticked off. Fortunately the paint was fresh enough that I was able to repaint the fender and it matched, but it shows how ignorant and uncaring some people are.

As far as I am concerned, I react as though there were a child in the car... because what if there had been!

"Just an old car."   How about I claw some skin of your face! Its just old skin! You hurt my car you are hurting my family, my wife, me! How about I break a window out of your house! Why don't you think about what something means to some one else!

I am having troubles with a 'friend'. He is going through his rebellious/lazy teens... still... he is 21. He refuses to get a license and and refuses to learn about cars at all. He doesn't even know how to check the oil and refuses to be told where because he'l "just have some one else do it for [him]. Its just a stupid car, there are people for this". My neighbors are the same way. Young kids, okay they are actually my age or so but I was outside cleaning my engine and I heard a couple of them trying to figure out how to find the transmission fluid "checker-thingy". I was 7 when I learned how to check the fluids and I was 12 when I did my first oil change, and I feel like I'm a mechanical idiot!

I hear ya Rev. People don't pay any attention to what they're doing these days and have no respect for anything around them.

Just after we got the wagon we decided to embrace tradition planned to pick out our Christmas tree and haul it home on the roof rack. I bought some tie downs for the roof and we went off to the tree lot. I sat in the car while the Mrs picked one out. I was chuckling at the mook beside me trying to fit a tree into his Civic when his wife got out of the car and opened the door with enough force that it moved the Buick and she got the door edge hooked behind the Roadmaster Estate badging on the fender. I had to get out and bodily shove the car sideways to get her door unhooked and prevent my badging from getting torn off. She didn't seem to have any clue that she had done anything wrong(nor was she aware that I was in the car). It doesn't seem to occur to people that they should be aware of the impact they have on other peoples stuff. The putz was still there fighting with his tree half an hour later when the Mrs turned up with the tree. It turned out that I had forgotten the tie downs on the counter at Canadian Tire :slap:so I gave him a smug look as I opened the wagon, effortlessly tossed in the tree and drove off while he continued to try to figure out how to get that tree into his silly little car.

...and don't get me started on adult newspaper carriers going door to door across peoples lawns rather than walking out the driveway and down the sidewalk. No respect for anything!!:taz::taz:
