Hello everyone. I know this is supposed to go in restoration folder but it's been so long that I posted I thought you would forgive me(I hope so anyway)
I decided not to sell and go ahead a strip and paint her. I couldn't afford a full resto like Blacksnakes Mercury. So took all the trim/shiny pieces off, pulled the old wood off(it kind of fell off) and sent her to the paint shop a stones throw from my house. It cost $900!! but turned out pretty good(better than a Maaco job)
Got her home and started putting it all back together. The trim was easy. The wood vinyl was another matter. I went with the cheaper Avery product $140(the 3M would have been $450) Went through about $40 worth before I got the hanh of hanging it. Ended up with a few small bubbles but a needle took care of that. Anyway am pretty happy with the result. Just need to start work on the interior now. fairlane9.jpg Thanks in advance for comments:clap: fairlanep11.jpg fairlanep1.jpg fairlanep6.jpg fairlanep3.jpg

You've done a beautiful job on your Squire. Its stunning. Looks like bumpers are the only thing left to do to make it a show winner. (From personal experience I reccomend Tri City Plating rather than Bumper Boyz when you buy or have your existing bumpers straightened and rechromed.)

    Bumpers

Yes I am saving up to have my Bumpers(I will look up Tri City) done especially the front. Thanks Fat Teddy for blowing the picture up! Yes it is a vast improvement over the rusty primer. I lucked out with by body wor(or lack of it.) A small hole in the driver side rear quarter just above exhaust. It shows good in the photos but I still have a way to go on the interior) Will keep on plodding along. Yes am glad I hung onto her! Thanks again for all your kind words of support. :bouncy:

Congrats DW. Phenomenal job; it really looks great. You've got to be so psyched; I know I would be. I love how the front end of the Fairlanes were just a smaller version of the full size '63's. Very nice Squire. Does my heart good to see such a wagon given a second life.
    Ya done good.

    she looks bloody beautiful(y)

as for the bumpers.?....wanna try an old trick?

get yourself a can of Coke a cola...pour it into a saucer of sorts....steal the wifes roll of tin foil....make yourself a big wad of tin foil....dip it in the Coke....scrub the bumpers with it ;)

    you'l luv me:biglaugh:

Great lookin little wagon. Bet you are glad you kept it. Not a bad price with a bunch of work to have such a nice ride. Keep after the interior and bumpers and you will be so happy with it.

Love this gorgeous Fairlane Squire! I may just need to make a little trip to Ft. Worth to see it up close! OK David? :thumbs2:

I think there needs to be at least one or two big pictures of this beauty on each and every page of this thread! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima
