Hey Gang! Had a little adventure tonight. My oldest kiddo went to Dallas for the weekend last night, and Misty wanted to go get some Italian food tonight. I'm not big on Italian, had more than my share when I lived in New Jersey, and besides, Italian food in Texas is about like Mexican food in New Jersey. It's just not quite "right". :suspect: That being said, I kinda pulled a fast one. Rather than do Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill, there is an old italian place in downtown Austin called Romeo's. It's good stuff, if a tad pricey. I loaded Misty and Tucker in the Roady and headed downtown. Misty was excited, this would be a treat... I neglected to mention the big cruise-night is Saturday night on South Congress downtown. Hehe... SO we had a good dinner, and I offered to buy her and Tuck a cupcake from Hey Cupcake!, which..ahem...is on South Congress.. All I can say is that was a GREAT night! Misty kinda caught on once we got down there, but she was full of expensive Italian food, and actually pulled out her phone to take pics for me!! Very Cool! We cruised up and down South Congress for over two hours, really had a good time, great cars down there and I WILL be doing that again. There were FIVE OTHER LONGROOFS that showed up! Two were Impala clones, one was a Caprice with hubcaps, and the last one was a total twin of my car, white woody over red guts, but it had hubcaps. Was driven by a blond girl and we passed each other and both about jumped out our windows waving at each other! Was SO cool! Ha! Sadly she was going north and I was going south, and I never saw her a again, so no pic of that car. Booo! We never did make it to Hey Cupcake, but stopped at Amy's Ice Cream on the way home....so all ended well too! And seeing all the other wagons cruising and people waving and giving us thumbs-up may have given Misty a new appreciation for my wagon. Ha! She also said she felt like a teenager again, cruising the main drag in her hometown in highschool....with the exception that she was in a wood-covered station wagon with a baby in the seat behind her....I married a funny woman. Also, withever a car would rev it's engine, my 2-year-old Tuck in the back seat would go RRRRRR!-RRRRR! Fun stuff, training him right! Here's the pics! Keep in mind these were taken with her cell phone camera, while we were in the Roady cruising, so they are not the greatest, but you'll get the idea. Sorry for the blurry ones but some NEAT cars and cool people! Fun times! -Mike This is at the far south end of South Congress, check out the two Lincoln's. Interesting truck... Cool a 56 behind us! I mean.....just.....WOW! I haven't seen that many different cool cars from my era since I was a kid living in that era!! There were at least 8 cars there that I once owned. I can't hardly believe the number of great cars on the street there. I am absolutely impressed. To see this many of those great old cars on the road makes my day! Great show, Mike!! EDIT: I enjoy many of your pictorial posts, Mike, but, I am still having problems with the size of your posts that contain large pix. I still have to scroll back and forth to see all of the pic and to read the adjoining copy. Others have said your posts are fine and fit the page format just fine on their puters so I don't know what the problem is. I will say that your posts are the only one's I have this problem with unless someone posts a pic too large. I guess I will have to ask Stef what the problem is with my puter since others seem to get your posts in the correct size. It is a strange problem that yours is the only one that is too large on my puter??? Drives me nuts because I enjoy your posts but makes for a difficult time for me to see and read them.

OK, BB....you need to write a USA tourist book! Every city that anyone mentions....you have perfect recall about anything and everything about it. Restaurants, traffic directions, bad roads, etc, etc. If your info is not out dated...then I am serious as a heart attack....you need to do up that book! Or,...at the very least, do a column or radio show somewhere. I've never seen anyone with geographical, local color and local trivia recall like you have. WTF....were you a traveling hobo?
AAARRRGGGHHHH. AH LEFT 'N LEFT ONTO WILLIAM CANNON AND THEN CIRCLE SOUTH MIKE. GAWD THIS CRS IZ KILLIN' ME
Huh? Hobo? I PREFER THE TERM "GYPSY" FOX, THANK YOU VERY MUCH Did I miss tellin' yeah I lived in Austin fer 5 yearz Part of the 7 'round tripz tah the moon I made in 46 yearz while never leaving the contigious 48 statez Why yah think I don't wanna smell diesel fuel anymore
Yup....I remember your truckin' travels. But....to be able to remember all those places and all that trivia is amazing to me. Especially at your young age. With 2 strokes and a million years on the track.....I can't remember what I did yesterday! Or where I did it. Or IF I did it.
Glad ya'll liked the pics! Was a fun night! Will keep that resteraunt in mind too. The Mom and Pop ones tend to be the best. Just posted Cars and Coffee pics from this morning in another link. Was a car-nut weekend! -Mike
Looks like alot of fun! Gettin' tired of California. Too many weirdos and dumb ass laws and regulations. Didn't grow up here and needin' some small town fun! Maybe a move is in order. Thanks for the pics!
I hear that! Loved the weather in Southern California...but, all the things you say were true even back in the 70's, bettywagon. That's why I got out. Even though I was making excellent money.
