Well I am in West Texas, and have came across 2 falcon wagons. I was on another forum, and didn't get along with one of the mods to great and got banned...anyways...I am looking for any and all info I can find on a few Falcon wagons. i have acquired a 1960 deluxe falcon wagon and also another 60/61 falcon wagon. thanks
Well welcome to our friendly forum.... Lots of Falcon wagon afficianados here. Can't remember the last time somebody got banned from here....not sure it ever happened. We try to keep it at a polite level, and we genarally police ourselves Post up some pics of your wagon collection. Marshall
Excuse me, but spelling and punctuation errors will not be tolerated!~ You neglected to put a period at the end of what was very clearly a sentence. Please don't let this happen again or I will report your posts to this guy! :ban:
here are the 2 wagons I recently found out on some of my moms land. They seem to be pretty solid cars. Any info is appreciated...thanks I know they aren't the best pics, but camera died before I could get any more. Will try and get some more in the next few days.
OK, referring to the first photo.... The one on the left is a 1960, judging by the grill. Also from one of the other pics, it appears this wagon has chrome trim on the window frames? If so, that would mean it was equipped with the exterior decor group. There was an upscale 'Futura' model later on in the production run, but not in '60. The other wagon looks like it's only a shell. Can't tell the year, but it's probably either a '60 or '61 - only trim differences between those two years.
The car on the left is a pretty complete car. It still has the engine/trans but i cant get the hood open. They have more than likely been sitting there 35+ years. All the sheet metal on both seem to be solid, not sure about the underside or floors. I plan on getting all the info I can from the cars once I get back out there. I will also get more pics. Don't really know anything about these older wagons. I don't think I have even seen one around this area lol. also I think the hood and grille to the other one is under an old shed, about 50 feet from cars, that has collapsed. There are also all kinds of old cars around. its like they just piled them up and forgot about them. Lots of 40s-60s cars 9 rough shape though)
to the forum...banned ah...well their loss our gain. I'd be a little careful opening the hood after 35 years who knows whats living in there If you can I'd be interesting in seeing the other cars that are around. Are you thinking about restoring these cars? I guess trying to get them out from under those trees with out scratching the car or breaking braches off and not getting bitten are probably foremost in your mind?
Haha thanks for the welcome...this forum is already alot friendlier than the other one lol. As far as something living under the hood, its open a little bit and can see about half the engine bay and engine, and there dont seem to be anything under there. I think the hinges are seized up, but not positive. There is not much interior left in both wagons, just seat springs and dash. The one with hood still has the radio in it, and is probably the better candidate for a resto. i would love to bring these 2 together and atleast get one back on the road, but I am currently redoing my 76 T/A and have no room or funds for 2 projects. I'm not to worried about the trees around these cars, as you can see there are plenty other mesquite trees around lol. I plan on trying to get the tree out from between them atleast so I can take better pics of both cars, next time I'm out there. The getting bitten is my main concern, with these warm days we have had I am afraid the rattlesnakes might be trying to move around and there are plenty of places for them to hide lol. All the cars around are probably just good for scrap metal, but there might be a diamond in the middle of everything lol...like I always heard, one mans trash is another mans treasure.
1962 Rambler Classic Custom - pretty solid car (was wanting to resto-mod it) Notice the 40s? Chevrolet sedan in the back ground...trying to find it online to identify what it is lol The infamous car mountain LOL - looks like a 30s truck cab (minus cowl area) up on top
Yeah they are a friendly bunch they might tease you a bit but they are supportive and seem to watch out for each other...I guess it's like most things you get what you give. Thanks for the pictures. I guess that pile was probably started when those cars were considered disposable...seems a shame now doesn't it? So there is a "car talk" section that you can post pictures of your TA resto if you like. It's Ok to enjoy other cars around here...but only in that section Anyway check the place out...the Dumb As* thread is good for a laugh...these guys at their best ...kidding guys...see you around.
From the looks of those cars, could your grandpa or somebody have operated a tow yard on the property?
I talked to my mom earlier about all the cars. She told me that the old guy who owned all the land before them, would drive a car until something happend to it. He woudl then park it and buy another one. Looks to me like he wrecked 90% of the cars he drove lol. There were several cars up next to the house when my mom bought the place. I got both of those and ended up parting them out. My mom said she knew there were cars somewhere, but didn't know there was that many out there lol. they are probably 50 yards or so from the house, and you cant see them until your right up to them.
...that sounds like me....cept i dont PILE the cars thats a shame...theres some neat stuff there as for the Falcons....dude...ask away i got a couple almost everything you need to restore one is repopped right off the bat...the rear quarter windows..are the same from 60 -65 falcon/fairlane/comet to our garage
haha yeah its a shame that all these cars were just parked and forgotten. As far as restoring the 2 wagons, I'd love to, but got a whole other project going. Will more than likely sell the 2 wagons and hopefully all the other cars around there lol. I am basically just looking for any info. I am going to try and get some numbers from the cars in the next few days hopefully.
