so, have you ever woke up and had that feeling that you probably shouldn't got to work...just go back to bed! ... i should listen to that sometimes! got to work this morning through snow and ice! found out that the lead driver didnt show up because the creek flooded and formed a moat around his house. so we all had to pick up the slack. which meant we left the dock 45 min late. this sucks for me (south hills) and the downtown driver, as that puts us in the thick of rush hour. well to top it off there was an accident on the inbound parkway north and it backed traffic up 9 miles to I-79. sooo... an hour later i get to my 1st stop. almost 2 hours late! i make my south side (bar district) deliveries and drive up carson street (this is a 2 lane road that goes up along the monongehela river and is the quickest way to my next section) about 2 miles up the road...its closed...great no signs, no warning! they were diverting traffic to a side road that would add a half hour to my time! ...oh well. 3 mile up that road...ITS CLOSED TOO! at this point im pissed, turn the truck around and drive back to the south side and go up the other side of the river. i get to my next stop...the tranny in my truck slipped a little pulling into the parking lot...i get out and look....i left a trail of tranny fluid into the parking lot! i looked underneath...front seal is blown and hemorrhaging tranny fluid. i call my boss and he informed me that he would call penske and get them to come tow me...this is at 10:30 am the tow truck didnt get there till 2:00pm!!! wow what a day....im tired...thanks for listening!
I coulda told you to stay home! They carried a newsbite about your weather up here. Wicked Weather Leaks! http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2010/12/01/us-east-weather001.html
Yup- had a couple of biggies recently, but I will have to say they wern't a continuing series of problems like that. Just look at it this way - bad stuff was being thrown at you from all sides, and all day - and you handled it. (And none of it you created yourself..)
Wow that really was a challenaging day...sure makes all these others look great A couple of summers ago my daughter was working about 20 min. drive (by hwy) north of us. I work about 20min.drive south of us. So on this day I have to take her to work then turn around and drive about 40 mins. to get me to work. Well on our way to her work slowly both lanes came a complete stop. After calling the radio station we learn that there had been a fatal accident ahead of us. I get her to work but she was about a half hour late. We called ahead, they had heard about it so no harm done. So now I'm rushing to get me to work trying not to be late. I was to carpool with two others but I called them to go on without me that I would drive straight through. Well, about 10 mins from work I come around a turn only to find both lanes again coming to a complete stop...yipe another accident. People are getting out of there cars. I start telling the guy next to me( in a convertable) about just coming from another accident...he knew all about it he had just come from there also...what's the odds? It was a beautiful summer day. The folks behind me got the kids and the dog out of the mini van and had a play in the grass on the side of the road...buddy next to me turned up the radio we all had a great little visit while waiting for things to get back to normal. Turned out my co-workers were also caught up in the traffic we were all late...but that was the worst of it
