Welcome from another '66 CS Newbie

I joined about a month ago. I lucked into a Nightmist Blue '66 428 wagon. I just love driving it, or even looking at it. I sure draws reaction from people. i like that it's out of the ordinary, and i like it's family-friendly statement. The thumpin' big-block is nice too.

Tell me about your wagon - color, options, how you found it, etc.

I bought mine in Omaha and drove it back to FL. I wish i could take a road trip in it more often.

If you or anyone else needs any specs or has questions about what was original, I've got a full Ford dealer info for 1962-75.

Tell me what parts you're looking for and I'll see if i can help. I've had pretty good luck locating parts online. I got a factory AM/FM for to replace my original which was removed, got a factory 8-track which I intend to get serviced, then add. Now I've gotta find a radio antenna to replace the one that got knocked off at the car wash last Saturday. Anybody know if AM/FM uses the same antenna as AM?

Here's another '66 Country Squire mystery: My wagon has two different finishes on the wheels covers. Three have a "frosted" finish, while one is bright and shiny all over. I'm not sure which is right or what the different usages were for.

While we're at it, one more: Did Country Squires have a heater under the seat?

    Thanks all.

Antenna is the same, except power antenna. They have a noise suppressor in the base, IIRC.

I thought 'in-floor' heaters were only in pre-60's cars and trucks. I doubt it. Have you got hoses under the floorpan?

Can't help you much on the wheelcovers. Got a pic?

I have a theory on the wheel covers, but its just a guess from a Mopar guy. The full wheel covers that were used on the 66 Full size Fords, were used again on some 67 Ford pickups and many Ford Broncos starting in 67 and continuing well into the early 70's. At some point Ford must have changed the finish or the material on the wheel covers for the trucks maybe switching from a chrome finish to a stainless finish. The other possibility is that the shiny finish deteriorated over time as anodized aluminum trim does.
