I have good news to report on the windshield front. Instead of paying the ridiculous sum of $650 to get a NOS windshield shipped, I was able to locate a used windshield in good condition at an auto wrecker in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The price was only $70 and I was able to get it home safely. I actually found the windshield through a search on car-part.com. The listing for the windshield was from a location where they had last taken inventory in 1985. I was really surprised that they still had it, but they appear to have a lot of unique stuff.
Well....as I understand it, tig, ...from a car carrier....Klamath Falls is not the easiest place to get to. Glad you scored!
Have you tried these places ? www.safelite.com Ebay has all sorts of stuff. Lots of companies competing selling the same parts. I got a windshield for a 1958 Pontiac for 375, instead of the 675 quoted by shops locally
The passes can definitely be snowy there this time of year. Fortunately, the roads were clear and there was no ice. K Falls is a beautiful area, but it is pretty far from civilization- just the way I like it!
Exact Repro Windshield Source If it's not too late, i'd like to weigh in on the windshield discussion. I just got a replacement windshield for my '66 Country Squire from ECS, a company in St. Louis that does very precise work, but nobody seems to know about. I sent them a photo and a diagram of the codes in the center of the glass and they reproduced them exactly. Here's their contact info: ECS Automotive Concepts 17013 New College Ave. Suite 101 Wildwood, MO 63040 (636) 207-7767 www.ecsautomotive.com
