I'm considering using a chrome spray paint for the armrest bases in my 67 wagon.
Has anyone ever used it? Does it look decent?
Right now, all of the chrome has worn off.
    Thanks

It looks like paint. The original "chrome" was actually vacuum deposited aluminum. What type of wagon is this? The GM armrest bases are readily available as repros.

I have used chrome paint on plastic parts with good results but with parts that don't get touched/used often such as dash pieces etc. I don't know how it would hold up on a door handle, armrest thats getting rubed every time.

    This is good stuff...

I spryed a 68 Cougar dash with Alclad chrome. It was a learning curve for sure:banghead3: but I got it figured out:2_thumbs_up_-_anima. Prep, prep, prep, primer, andthen a spray the part gloss black to a shine for a bace. Then paint with Alclad. Important.... little is better with alclad and you get a great chrome finnish. Too much and it looks like silver paint.

I personally found after several attemps that when it looks like you need another coat, it's time to stop. as it cures the shine really comes out.

I consider to chrome paint a dash bezel (original came chrome paint has worn)

When using a chrome paint would finishing it with clear paint keep the shine longer or will it 'yellow' after a while??

I think that chrome paint doesn't cut it. It looks too silver and if you touch it..uh-oh. Then again if repops are not avail....it will look better than nothing

I like the stuff that Tedy talks about:thumbs2: If I can ever get my current project INTO COLOR, I'm gonna try that stuff for a particular application. If you wanna do the quick 'n dirty give MR. G's in FT. WORTH, TX. ah shout at: 817-838-3131 or(mrgs@mrgusa.com) He might even have your pieces waiting for exchange. They been re-plating plastic and way more with fasteners since the mid '70s:tiphat:

Might check on the Internet... lots of companies out there that "chrome plate" plastic parts. I've seen some of the work, looks very nice... better than the old factory chrome finish.
