i grew up in wagons, my parents had an old escort wagon, then a fairmont wagon, then my dad build the musmont. i have a fond memory of him doing a burnout in the street with it when he got it together. lots of trips in the musmont, and then the haus when he got that together. i always liked the contrast of space and power that my dad's creations had. having both of my parents into musclecars (my mom has a 86 mustang gt 5-speed) gave me a good intro to cars. then when i started driving and got the haus, it furthered me into the cult of wagons. they are just awesome. i have owned a sedan and have a built 88 mustang as a weekend toy, but for all around driveability, a wagon cant be beat.

We virtually lived in our wagons as we grew up in the 70's. I was the oldest of 7 and I don't remember not having a wagon until the early 80's when we got a van.

Below is a picture of a picture (I will get the original scanned when I get a chance) of us arriving at our favorite PA ski resort, Seven Springs back in the mid 70's. I am not sure of the actual year of the 455 Buick Estate Wagon, but I am sure someone here could tell me.

Anyway I think its a classic picture. By the way, that is me hanging out of the drivers side window in the blue jacket.

I have this picture posted in my gallery "Dr B Smith"

    Enjoy! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

my first time in a Station Wagon, was my dads 1969 Plymoth Satilite, i was 9 years old, and that wagon was as long as a small yahat as far as i was concered, then he went and traded it for a god-for-sakend Vega wagon. To this day i cant figure out why(gas prices i guess) but he only had the Vega Wagon for 3 months, and traded it off for a 72 Chevy pickup, that was it for the wagons in my family, then in 1979 i was walking home one night, and i seen this 1970 Ford LTD Country Squire Wagon, Black, and in new shape, well i walked home for about a week, then my boss gave me a ride home, 10:00 at night, and he said i should buy that Wagon in the Ford Motor lot, and i said "it's funny that you say that, cuss i'v been looking at it for a week", well i talked to my dad, and he said " you got to be kidding, your in H.S., why? , and i said, if you kick me out of the house, i'll have a place to live, he was rolling on the floor, but we went down to look at the Wagon, and i fell in love with her, bought her for $3500.00, thanks to my dad co-signing for me, had her for about 9 months then went in to the service, and lost her( they like payments at least once a month) anyway i moved on, then, then in 2003 i was talking to afriend of my wife's and i was telling her about the 1970 wagon i had, and looking for another one, she said her dad(93 years old) had one in his garage, been there in for 9years, well she talked to her dad, and he wouldent sell it, it had been his sence 1972, well i waited a wile , then my friend said i needed to a least go look at it, we did. It had matteress on top of it, but it WAS a 1970 , and i had to have HER, so now the work of getting her dad to sell her.ok this took some fanagaling, but 3 months later he sold her to me for $500.00. Then i towed it to my house, the rest of the story later, Mac Henderson
