Well after looking close at the big picture I decided to Barn the 83 Crewzer untill who knows when. Kinda a touph choice but I do like the Crewzer alot more, so I spent yesterday and today preping it for winter hibernation:cry:. Fresh oil change, fresh anti freeze, full tank of gas with fuil presrevative and crap tires for it to sit on, and took the battery out. She's parked, but at least she will stay dry. Washed it yesterday and fully vacumed, did a magor over kill on absoball in and under the car aswell stuffed those dryer fabrick sofener sheet thingys up the exhaust and all over under the hood etc. I also spread a sh** load of this...
[IMG] under and all around the wagon. 3 bottles worth, even my eyes were watering like pepper spray(y)

My honey knew I was a bit bummed out and gave me several good bed sheets to cover the wagon before I put the brand new tarp on it.

The more I looked at $, there was no way I could justify keeping it insured for the winter. The Buick sat all last week with out insurance and the Crewzer expires at midnite tommorow. The Buick being so cheap to fuil because it's on propane we insured it for a year. My truck is still insured till December but it's not like I can drive it...still don't know what I'm gona do with that............

tedy, dont change the truck....3 on the tree cars and trucks are very very rare anymore....most were converted to auto. you'll be driving her soon enough.

im putting TiKi away in about 2 weeks. so i know how you feel.

how cheap is propane up there? how much space does the tank take up on the buick?

is propane readily available there? they only sell it here for grills and forklifts

I know how you feel. I'm going to be broke for a while, so I've got my Fairmont sitting in the barn all snuggled up for the winter. I don't know when I'm going to get to it, but I'm not going to sell it.
I've even decided not to buy a winter car. I'll just drive my '89 F150 2WD with 72K and has never seen salt.

Hey Tedy. This may be way more of an answer than you wanted, but here goes: I am planning to drive to POR-15 in the morning to pick up the prep solution, rustproofing paints, undercoat product, and solvent. We're due for 5 straight days of rain, so I won't be able to start right away. I have done a first pass of removing accumulated dirt from the inner wheel wells. I have also tested out my heavy duty plastic driveway ramps and they work just fine. The car was apparently well undercoated when new, and a lot of places are holding up nicely. I have a short-handled scrub brush to use with the prep solution for cleaning the undercarriage. The surface rust areas will then receive 2 coats of POR-15 black, a light 320 grit sanding, a coat of self-etching primer, and 2 coats of Flex-cote black. The non-rusted areas will receive 2 coats of Chassis-Coat Black. I'll be painting the products on, not spraying. FYI, the POR-15 rustproofing paints have to get a finish top coat (like FlexCote or Chassis Coat) if they will be exposed to direct sunlight. I am going to use the FlexCote for the wheel openings (shiny look) and minor surface rust areas on the undercarriage, and the Chassis Coat (traditional undercoating look) for everything else. Not to mention re-rustproofing the doors/panels etc, with the Noxudol 700 spray. Winter's comin' - I better get busy!

Moon day 25. That explains why so many are bummed out. 72Estate, and a few others.

Tedy, things can only get better, right. Now quit playing with the turkeys!:biglaugh:

On a happier note, the wife just got back from central Mexico, at her mom's home, and she's all shopped out! Pooped too!:thumbs2: :biglaugh:

:49:I heard a really really bad thing on the radio this week:49:

The US Weather Service is forecasting that with El Ninjo (?sp) we can anticipate a particularly cool and wet winter:banghead3: They even mentioned the evil "S" word and even some "gasp" on the ground stuff. Eeks.

The announcer did comment that at least the central part of the country will see even worse  which was a bit of a relief. We don't mind having some ugly weather if everyone else is up to the eaves of their houses with it.:162:

So I too am looking at shutting things down a tad early. I'll tear the wagon apart starting next week and get it ready for the long drive next summer.

There are times when it bugs me, that the Forecasters refer to Central as Ontario, but when it comes to the 'S' word, they can have it all.:D Haven't heard any of that here, so far...:yippee:

I likes tah think of it as "CHUNKY RAIN"! sna, sna, sna, aw the white crap just getz me deprested. Batwagon iz still on the ground but the tank iz full and STA-BIL-IZED. It'll go up on blockz when I stop bein' lazy. BTW, I think I've found a winner so I'll pass it on to all the Groupies here. My local lumber yard sells "Wolminized 6"X8"X8' Landscape Timbers. 6"X6"X8's ain't the same! These are kinda like railroad ties. I've had 'um cut two of those into 15" chunks and use two on front unabody rails and two inboard of the springs on the rear axle to park the Beast on for the long winterz sleep. Yeah I know That getz me ah few more then 8 and there are two 18"z too, but it gives me somethin' tah sit on and wax my lug nutz! $50 for the two including "charges" for the cutz on their big table saw and I've got a life time supply of bullet proof 3-way elevation stands :thumbs2: Might even be ah bit cheaper for our Northern Brotherz 'N Sisterz 'cuz that's where most of 'um come from. They might crack an little when they dry out, but I've never lost one in over 25 years and I feel OH SO SAFE when I'm under there.:2_thumbs_up_-_anima

Yep. I use them to reach the middle of the wagon roof to wax it, wetsand. I'm short in one end.;) They are great for raising the car up. The rail yard down the street has the real rail ties, and sometimes, gives them away, but they're a mess to haul around.
