71 Galaxie 500 Country Sedan NEW PICS MORE PICTURES a few posts down. Couldn't put them all in one post. Hello. We just acquired a 1971 Ford Galaxie Country Sedan Station Wagon and discovered this site while looking for information about it. It was sort of an impulse buy at an estate auction. The now elderly owner purchased it new from a local dealership and it went to the auction house with the pots, pans, and knick knacks. We drove it home. It's light green with a dark green interior that is in near perfect condition and has the dual rear facing seats. Exterior is very nice also, very very little rust and most of that is surface rust. My husband changed the thermostat and fuel filter today. He did notice it needs a new carb gasket -- dried out from sitting in a garage for a year or two. I have spent quite a bit of time searching the internet but haven't found much information or many others like it. Any website recommendations are appreciated! My husband is more into muscles cars, we have a '73 Duster, and I am more interested in older trucks, yet we found ourselves strangely attracted to this giant celery green station wagon.
Welcome, you and your husband are in the right place we have a good mix of experts here of all types of wagons and brands. Go through each forum and look around you will be surprised at you will find. Pictures of your new play toy??
Welcome to the forum... Here's your car's theme song..... http://popup.lala.com/popup/937030210406391795 Note: We like muscle cars too...particularly if hey have a wagon back end attached to them. Marshall
Cool. I love stories like this. How many miles on it? Yes, please post pictures. P.S. Did you get anything else at the auction besides the car? After all, you had something to carry them home in!
gt6, here's one of the better historical Ford sites for that fine wagon's pedigree, and some good technical info: http://www.lovefords.com/
NOT ANYMORE!!! Here's some more interior shots. 94,493 miles. As a matter of fact, we initially went to the auction to look at a furnace for a property we are redoing to sell. The day before, I had forgotten we were going and had loaded my van with huge bags pop cans to return and some stuff to drop off at used place. The van was full. So, right before we went I had to unload the van just in case we bought the furnace. Turns out it wouldn't have been necessary. And, yes, we bought the furnace... along with a leaf blower/sucker, electric edger, sprinkler, and water can.
Looks like you've got yourself quite a find there, GT6. Congratulations. The interior seems to be mint. Ask anybody on the site and they'll tell you what a huge whitewall fan I am; throw some wsw's on your wagon and you'll be amazed how it dresses it up. Good luck with it and welcome to the forum.
