With all this snow this morning, I'd put snowshoes on, until people re-learn to drive in it. It was just a bit slippery the other day, when I went to renew my Driver's License, and I couldn't believe how people were still driving like its summer - skidding across red-lights! Swerving all over when the lights change. Twits! I guess they want to be statistics.:banghead3:
I cant wait for it to snow....im right at home 45 degrees in a corner!!! ....after racing Sprint cars for years ....its hard not to
No pain, no gain! We're actually going to drop from -3.7C to -9.0C before 6:00 PM! Then the low tonite is -16C, and the high tomorrow is -13C! That's getting close to the definition of STRESS!! - The nagging urge to squeeze the living beeswax out of somebody who badly deserves it.:banghead3: Well, back to work: A) Front and rear lighting circuits, so I can install the small bulbs. Can't get at them once the lenses are mounted with my paws, anyway. B) Found the tailgate latch, right where it was supposed to be - handy. Just never looked there yesterday. If it's still decent enough, I'll get the tailgate wipers in and the license plate casing.
Sheesh! I forgot about Old Man Winter! I was blaming this on Mother Nature, but the old guy decided to chill us down to -30C with the windchill! Just a mean streak of cold beyond reason! I went through all the harnesses and replaced the broken body clips and corroded ground loops. AND I finally found out where the Engine Compartment light connects from a 1981 Mustang diagram. It connects off of the Positive side of the starter relay with a switch at the hood/rad support that opens the circuit. Back during the summer, I peeled open each of the plastic lamps with knives and and Exacto knife and refinished the chrome backings on the inside, as well as the exterior lenses and reflectors. I was surprised how dull the backing had become. Anyway, I'd forgotten that I had to reseal them, so I did that with an automotive contact cement. I've got some other detail work to do on the harnesses and the seats, but I'll do some quick installs (3 to 5 minutes, before skin freezes at these windchills.
Tail and Front lights in. Had to solder up a Pro-version of trailer wiring instead of those clips, and replace the tail-light sockets (also soldered in). But have you ever had the thrill of waiting for a soldering iron to heat up copper in -12C? (20F). I came in to feel my fingers again. Its a bare-handed task - you have to feel the force. :banghead3:
Checking the rest of the harnesses for damaged/missing clips tomorrow and finishing seats and armrests. Way too cold until Sunday.
Anyone else watched Charleton Heston's movie "The Cistine Chappel"? In the movie, he's painting the ceiling with the famous God-Adam handshake. Its taking years and the pope keeps poking his nose in and asking "When Will It Be Finished?", everytime more impatiently. Heston finally gets ticked off with the Pope and says, in his booming voice, "When It Is Done!" I ain't Charleton, and my wife ain't the Pope, but when the weather gets down to -27C, she sure sounds like the Pope! Can't shop, can't drive in this snow anyway. The Winter blues are getting to her, and it won't be Winter until December 22! (There's 3 Taz icons - one for me, one for her, and one more for her 'just beside herself! ) She's so cute when she's frustrated! Ouch! AND, I do sound like Charleton Heston! He shook hands with me and gave me a compromise, warmer (up to -8C), but snow, to make sure my tools are wiped off everytime I come back in. Well, I'll get the wiring harness in today, and the steering column back in its place (I took it off to change the rubber boot for a new one without holes. Mine was dried up and cracked from Mexico's hot weather.)
Now it's too dark and still -22C windchill. We won't hit -12C until midnite. Why would I think that forecasters ride on a broomstick?
How do you guys live up there? I wouldn't last 5 min in that crap! It gets below 50 degrees around here and I got the kerosene heater on up to 72 degrees where it's supposed to be! When I get the chance I'm going South or West but have to wait for the housing market to come back, might be a couple of years. Clark
We get eased into it every year. It takes about 5 years to get to enjoy it. Then you get bored, then you enjoy it. Its amazing what the Human being can get used to.
