I pulled out the speedometer and took it apart. I watched a video on YouTube where the guy showed where to oil the unit. I didn't feel comfortable with the step where he drilled into a plug to access the oil port. So, I bought the Machine Oil and
then submerged the entire unit in the oil for about an hour.
I put it back together and the speedometer is working perfectly!!

 

That can also be done with mineral oil. It dissolves old gummy oil deposits, but leaves a lubricating coating. And if you still need to drill the access hole, but not drill too deep, make a wood drill stop. Basically, it's a wood block with a hole drilled through, but a smidge shorter than your drill bit bottomed out in the chuck. So, if you want to drill 1/16" deep, you loosen the chuck, put the stop over the bit, then pull the bit up just enough for the measurement, lock it down, and drill.

Was a heater even standard, in 1960? If not, that seems to be the only option on that wag, besides those wind deflectors

 

Remember back then that the Guv'mint paid as little as possible for their base-model vehicles, and for the most part, option packages had not really tarted up yet, that began in the late Seventies. So, yeah, little to no stuff, and possibly not even a heater.

One 60 Station wagon is enough. The last thing on the to-do list for Sarge is the 700r4 transmission swap. It's sitting in the garage waiting on me. Of course, I also have the LS6 engine sitting next to the tranny. The tranny swap is high on my list but I'm not as motivated to do the engine swap. Once Sarge is in "maintenance" mode I can turn my attention to my last project: "Cruiser" my 1986 Toyota FJ60. It needs an engine rebuild and some body rust repair.
