My wife has 16 double sized bins full of her Christmas decorations, plus boxes of Santas and reindeer and other things all strategically placed in the basement for rapid deployment come November 15th each year. :whew: She cracks everyone up with how much effort she puts into making our old home look like it's a 1950's Christmas. I suspect when I'm not around she's down there dusting them and checking everything. Every room has something appropriate - I'm talking every room. She and her lady friends exchange small gifts and the six of them are already in shopping mode for just the right things for each of the others. Meanwhile the guys just nod and smile and keep our mouths shut and at Christmas while they spend a several hours opening the gifts with much comment and "cheer" we sit in the kitchen and drink coffee and eat desserts and talk about cars and cure all the ills of the world.

You're lucky if that's all she has. My wife has inside and outside decorations for EVERY holiday and season if it ain't a holiday, right down to the proper tableware for most of them. She also cooks a traditional meal for each holiday. She even sets the table with traditional Chinese tableware when we have Chinese take-out. I clear out when she decorates.

That's awesome Barry. I would love to see your home decorated for Christmas in all of it's 1950's glory.

And OldFox, be happy your wife takes so much enjoyment in those things. Not everyone gets to experience holidays and special occasions in such a way. It reminds me of how things were when I was growing up. It's not that way in my house now, and I miss it.

We bought out my wife’s parents house when they passed away. All those things are here.

We have complete settings and decorations for each and every holiday down to personal salt and pepper shakers, napkin rings, and figurines for that holiday .

We have the mother in law basement so we have enough for 2 full houses as well as Christmas trees for both levels…
    Plus the kiddie tables

I'm glad to see I'm not alone and I have to say I do feel lucky that my wife does what she loves to do. The values we lived by growing up keep us feeling young 7 decades later. I suspect the rest of you who "suffer" through this also love it, and for those of you who enjoy it year round you are fortunate to have that in your lives. I know how fortunate I am just for what I get to enjoy at Christmas.

That is what it’s about. Christ, family and tradition.

It makes me a bit giddy reading about your wives and ALL of the decorations. I can hardy wait to get settled in our move so I can start decorating for fall.
It really brings joy to the heart of the decorator making everything JUST right for everyone to enjoy.

This did encourage and enlighten me to the fact that I can get all my Christmas shopping done in one road trip.
Between the local galleries, wood shops and distilleries we have inadvertently bought enough gifts to fill a sleigh…

44f last night. This year has been cold. Too cold to leave my windows open at night most nights. As long as I can get my Jeep finished before it gets too cold for paint to dry, I’ll be ready. But not yet.
